On behalf of the over 2 million members of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC), I am writing to encourage the passage of H. Con. Res. 24 to call for an Article V Convention to propose a Fiscal Responsibility Amendment to the Constitution. With more than enough states having passed resolutions calling for an Article V convention, AMAC is appreciative of your actions to move this process forward in Congress.
Time and time again, the federal government spends more money than they have at the expense of the American people. Excessive spending has burdened Americans with out-of-control inflation which has not only raised consumer prices but has left workers with incompatible wages, struggling to make ends meet. It was a bipartisan belief that additional spending was necessary during the coronavirus-19 pandemic. Now that the pandemic is over, federal spending remains ever-growing. Americans cannot continue down this ill-advised road.
AMAC supports H. Con. Res. 24’s call for a constitutional convention to rein in spending, we also urge Congress to pass legislation providing a code of conduct for delegates and requiring regular reporting on the convention’s proceedings.
Congress must be held to a higher standard of responsible spending and AMAC thanks Congressman Arrington for this necessary legislation to ensure that any constitutional amendments proposed by a convention are done so in a transparent and accountable manner.

Yes. Several amendments could be proposed once a new Constitutional convention was convened. For instance the late Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens suggested the the Second Amendment should be weakened, or even removed. And of course feminists would demand to finally get their ERA. They certainly would organize fast to make sure they had strong representation at that convention.
Aside from financial responsibility, there needs to be a lifetime Term limit for Federal elected, appointed, confirmed and judicial bench officers, to be 10 years for elected, appointed and confirmed officials and 20 years for Federal Judicial Bench Officers, From the District Court Judges to the Supreme Court Justices. No person should be able to spend their entire lifetime with such power, as power breeds corruption, and our Federal Judiciary Officers currently has absolute authority for a lifetime.
The Article V Convention needs to be limited to deal with specified and publicly listed issues, and restricted from doing anything extraneous issues, not aforementioned. Also all elected, or governmental employees (at all levels) need to be barred from participation in the Convention, with exception of a Parliamentarian, who has no other function, in the convention than retaining Parliamentary Order..
This is not getting support needed by others in Congress to carry out their Constitutional obligation. What is the next step to make this happen?
