HCR 2023 rightly proclaims that power over elections was preserved for the states by the United States Constitution and not the federal government.

The Honorable Jake Hoffman
Arizona District 12 State Representative
Arizona House of Representatives
1700 West Washington
Phoenix, AZ 85007
Dear Representative Hoffman,
On behalf of the 2.37 million members of AMAC – Association of Mature American Citizens, including over 72,000 who reside in the state of Arizona, I write to offer our support for your resolution that protects Arizona’s constitutional duty to manage, control, and administer elections, HCR 2023.
The current political climate is one in which states’ power to oversee elections is being threatened by one-party rule in Washington, D.C. The race to pass H.R. 1, the deceptively named For the People Act, and all its egregious provisions, has served notice to states to stand up for their sovereignty.
HCR 2023 rightly proclaims that the power over elections was preserved explicitly for the states by the U.S. Constitution and not the federal government. It also expresses how “H.R. 1 strikes at the very heart of the arrangement that gave rise to this nation, namely that states are sovereign and free from interference and the intrusion of power from the government of the United States absent clear constitutional authorization.”
The Arizona House of Representatives’ formal opposition to this federal usurpation and interference with state legislative sovereign authority over elections by the federal government is courageous and wholly necessary.
Our membership stands with you and your colleagues, Representative Hoffman. Your patriotic leadership to protect free and fair elections in Arizona should serve as a model for other states and AMAC is pleased to offer our association’s full support for HCR 2023.
