AMAC: ‘Phony Scandals’ Are Not Phony, But Touting Economic Growth is Deceptive

dan-weber‘It’s downright frightening to think that 75% to 90% of all seniors are ‘economically insecure’ –

BOHEMIA, NY, Aug 2 – Barak Obama’s “ill advised” summer campaign tour is in full swing as he tries to convince Americans that he has successfully turned the economy around.  “But a record 46.2 million citizens living in poverty – including an overwhelming number of seniors – will find the president’s overly optimistic assessment of living conditions in these United States hard to swallow,” according to Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.

“It appears that Mr. Obama’s strategists thought a spate of speeches focused on the economy would take minds off of the spate of scandals that have plagued his second term so far.  Consider the newest and perhaps most overused talking point – ‘phony scandals.’  The president and his surrogates have been employing that language in hopes of distracting us,” Weber said.

But it is a “tactical blunder,” he claimed, mainly because the economy is, indeed, uppermost in the minds of all of us these days and “it sucks,” as the latest Gross Domestic Product numbers reveal.

The Commerce Department reported on Wednesday that U.S. GDP grew at a none-too-brilliant 1.7% rate in the second quarter and that in the first quarter the rate was actually an anemic 1.1%, not 1.8% as previously reported.  The numbers are “truly disappointing,” especially when you consider the possibility that, like the first quarter expansion report, the Q2 rate is subject to a downward revision three months from now, Weber pointed out.

“The administration’s strategy is a mistake, at best, and a cover up, at worst.  After all, there is nothing phony about four Americans dying in the Benghazi bloodbath last fall, nor in the IRS targeting political opponents prior to the presidential elections.  But there is indeed something phony about a president who touts his alleged economic accomplishments in the face of an obvious economic muddle.”

The newest survey by the Associated Press shows that fully 80% of adults in the U.S. have experienced and continue to experience the pains of “joblessness, near-poverty or reliance on welfare for at least parts of their lives.”  The AP said that it is “a sign of deteriorating economic security and an elusive American dream.”

One of the most telling findings in the AP poll:  “While racial and ethnic minorities are more likely to live in poverty [nonwhites still have a higher risk of being economically insecure, at 90 percent], race disparities in the poverty rate have narrowed substantially since the 1970s, census data show. Economic insecurity among whites also is more pervasive than is shown in the government’s poverty data, engulfing more than 76 percent of white adults by the time they turn 60.”

Weber focused on those statistics because “it is one of the one of the few non-partisan references to the plight of older Americans.  It’s downright frightening to think that 75% to 90% of all seniors are ‘economically insecure’ in an age when more people are living longer.”

ABOUT AMAC

The Association of Mature American Citizens [http://www.amac.us] is a vibrant, vital and conservative alternative to those organizations, such as AARP, that dominate the choices for mature Americans who want a say in the future of the nation.  Where those other organizations may boast of their power to set the agendas for their memberships, AMAC takes its marching orders from its members.  We act and speak on their behalf, protecting their interests, and offering a conservative insight on how to best solve the problems they face today.

D0n’t ever vote for any Incumbent in your lifetime if you want to take back our country from 3rd. world Communism! Start IMPEACHMENT proceedings ASAP on Obama! That would solve every problem we are now facing . We now know that he won re-election illegally using every trick that the IRS & NAS could give him. Get rid of all income taxes and estate taxes and install consumption taxes . All food and essential clothing would be exempt except dine out food and clothing over reasonable amounts. Then we can do the most wonderful thing—- ELIMINATE THE IRS!!!!

I am tired of hearing Republicans can’t do anything because of political consequences if they do. Just DO THE RIGHT THING!

Darlene Meredith

I have a question: Since Obama has taken the office of the commander in chief and sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United Staets of America, and obviously has not done that, why has he not been impeached?

You are fortunate if you have supplemental insurance. The Mrs. and I had to drop it two years ago and we are left with some big bills to pay.The insurance had raised to over two hundred dollars a month for each of us ,and we could not afford to pay it any longer. Medicare pays such a small amount of medical bills that we are sometimes left with large amounts to pay.The golden years are not what we thought they would be.We thought that we had enough put back to last for awhile but that was a mistake on our part.We are facing ever increasing bills that are becoming more difficult for us to pay.Where will we be in three years if Mr. Ob. continues to cut medicare payments and and is allowed to continue to raise medicare premiums?

Rid ourselves of the Democratic Senate, remember, only Democrats voted for Obamacare. Remember the statement pass the bill and read it later.

I don’t see how we Americans can win with regard to Obamacare. First of all, doing our math, we know for a fact that we cannot fund it and yet, if we successfully defund it, then where is the win? For many months now we have seen doctor’s offices/buildings, etc. being remodeled so that the expected influx of patients can be handled properly, pharmacies have taken on doctor’s duties by seeing people for shots, etc.,people are lining up to take courses in the medical field because that is where the jobs would be, everything has been put in motion involving a lot of money spent already. Now I ask you if defunding totally is going to be successfull then everything would have been done for naught; Just where would that take us? What would be the next step? All I can see is that the Republicans/Conservatives would get blamed since… Read more »

I just heard that, because the economic numbers don’t look good enough, they are going to change the way they calculate GDP in order to make the numbers look better. Then revise the data going back (I think it was), 84 years.
Won’t it be interesting to see how much better things were in the Great Depression than my folks actually remembered it? Sigh……
I’m still incredulous that this bunch of crooks came to power in this country.

I just don’t understand why America is not screaming removal of this president. First of all he was not qualified according to our constitution to be president. Secondly, by the time he is finished as president there won’t be an America which is exactly what he is being allowed to accomplish. Americans need to revolt like other countries are doing about their leader. Congress do your job and then get out yourself. You are the ones that are supposed to be working for the American people and you have failed us miserably.

Walt

Rest assured America THE IRS will manage this Nightmare with its
Proven efficiency….NOT!!!!…….

hold on tight david, we’ve got 3 more yrs. after this one on this socialist roller coaster ride. GOD BLESS AMERICA !!

I’m VERY worried about 2014! I have heard that the Medicare premium will be almost DOUBLE next year…. I already am paying an increase on my Medicare Supplement premium this year of about 12% and I am worried that that will increase as well. Meanwhile my Social Security is being threatened by all sides, with the REAL possibility it may be BANKRUPT with the next DECADE (If I live that long). Access to Doctors is shrinking (My wife is a nurse and her doctor quit taking Medicare and Medicaid patients this year and many others are planning to do the same…….My Cousin is a Doctor in California and he has stopped taking ALL forms of Insurance… all his patients are now CASH ONLY… the same thing is true of my Endocrinologist who stopped all insurance patients this year as well) If we don’t take back America soon we will be… Read more »

Obama the ANTICHRIST—-go to Hell !!!

Ellen Bengston

Hello: The thing that is really upsetting me is that my taxes have gone up on my salary ($240 less a month) and my property taxes went up. So I am getting poorer, yet the Dow is in the 1500’s. How are the rich getting richer when everyone I know has less money?

Keepingitreal

I have read the comments and agree with 99.9% of them. It is a very sad state of affairs to see the decline that has occurred as a result of this President and the cronies he has positioned to implement the Democratic policies. And the ones that came before him that set the stage. Everyone gives him credit for being so smart but fail to realize that he is just the face of the real “Wizard”. He is the person to “sell” the idea. He was chosen because of his race, his willingness to cooperate and the guilt felt by so many Americans. They write his speeches, pull his strings and his mouth opens. When he is not needed and they move on, he will become nothing. Look at Jimmy Carter. The one thing he will have is the vast fortune he has acquired and the ability to be paid… Read more »

EVERY SENIOR has the duty and obligation to “recruit” at least 10 people to vote in 2014 against the democrats. Romney lost the election because too many voters who voted in the 2010 slaughter of dems stayed home in 2012 and couldn’t see past their nose hairs what the implication of having 4 more years of this despot would do to our once beautiful country. 2014 and 2016 will truly be our last chance to salvage our country. Just reflect back on your childhood, your life, what your parents did for you in WWII, versus what has happened starting with Clinton and now the race to the finish with Obama. OBAMA’S GRAND DESIGN IS TO BRING US DOWN TO OUR KNEES….AND HE IS GETTING THERE FASTER THAN MOST OF YOU WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE.

Ed Straub

Ha, Ha, you worried? I’m excited! Yes, obama is doing only what he was programed to do. You should view what kissinger had to say about him. People, wake up, we are about to see terrible times. The secret organizations in this world are now preparing for a ” one world government and religion”. The only hope for people is the Lord Jesus Christ and having Him as your Savior. The Bible says that you can receive Him and KNOW you have eternal life. Take a few moments from your busy schedule and learn about you eternal destiny. Everyone should read the Book of Romans and first Corinthians. He will soon be coming back, will you be ready?

Hate to say this, but it is true that “feeling insecure” clinically raises the amount of CRF in the brain. That is an anxiety producing substance called corticotropin releasing factor. As so elegantly pointed out in Dr. Robert Sapolsky’s classic book, “Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers,” elevated stress levels is a contributing factor to shortening one’s lifespan. Maybe that is the new strategy for cutting Medicare expenses by this inept administration…maybe not so inept as conniving.

Sojourner Truth

Jobs for seniors are practically non-existent and yet the age of retirement is now set at 67 while most seniors are forced out of their jobs in their late fifties and early sixties, rendering them impoverished and without much hope. The Obama administration hates seniors because most older, more mature adults are conservative. As such the current rule of thumb is to marginalize seniors and prevent them from having a voice or a place at the table. So far the ploy is working. The attitude reminds me of the sixties cult movie, Soylent Green where all of the older Americans were place in concentration camps.

Larry Says

Oh Tommy Boy you sound like a winner ! I bet you were one of those Federal Employees that we all love and have taken care of for many years. I’m sure you were in the know.I worked 45 years for the same company didn’t have a 401k. I did have insurance & retirement. I may loose my insurance now thanks to the Federal Government and at 76 that will hurt. Of course according to you that was all my fault. Did I enjoy my job you bet I did or I would have left. You talk about the seniors wanting some thing for nothing, well I can say the same thing about the federal employees. It is fun to watch them work there will be three standing watching one work. Go into a federal building and find a chair and set and watch them work when your retired you can… Read more »

After reading all the above: The Psalm I learned as a child , put to music, goes like this:

If we have forgotten the name of our God,
Or unto an idol our hands spread abroad,
Shall not the Almighty uncover this sin?
He knows all our hearts and the secrets within.
Rise, help, and redeem us, Thy mercy we trust;
Rise, help, and redeem us,
Thy mercy we trust.!

As 2 Chronicles 7:4 says;
“If My people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and return from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and heal their land”.
Please , God , hear our prayer!
