AMAC: The 9/11 Attack in Libya Offers the President a Way to Avoid the Issues

The Libyan controversy allows him to ignore his economic failures and lack of vision on the stump  –

BOHEMIA, NY, Oct 26 – The Libyan cover up has given President Obama an unexpected, albeit tragic, way to avoid talking about his economic failures and his lack of vision for the fiscal future of the nation, according to Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.

“In the weeks leading up to the terrorist attack on our consulate in Benghazi, the president was backed into a corner on the key issues of the presidential election campaign—the economy, the national debt, job creation, Social Security, Medicare, energy independence.  He and Vice President Biden were hard pressed to articulate their positions on these topics and resorted to attacking their opponents and the ideas they put forth for getting the country back on the road to prosperity.  But the strategy was back firing on them as polling showed,” Weber said.

“The terrorist assault in Benghazi that left four Americans, including our Ambassador, dead on the anniversary of 9/11 was indeed an embarrassment for the president.  But it was he who chose to exacerbate the tragedy by trying to cover up its significance as a foreign policy debacle that might have been prevented,” the AMAC chief noted.

“However, it gave him a breather from having to explain the financial mess he’s gotten us into and how it impacts all Americans, in particular older Americans.”

Weber pointed out that AMAC has a policy of not endorsing political candidates, but “we have an obligation to our membership to speak out when a candidate seeks to obfuscate his record and his positions on the issues.”

He said that, in speaking out, the association was not urging members to vote for Governor Romney.  “We don’t agree with all of his stated intentions either.  For example, we believe that Romney should include a private investment option in his Social Security reform proposal.  But, at least, he has articulated a clear cut plan to deal with that and the other key issues.”

The Association of Mature American Citizens [] is a vibrant, vital and conservative alternative to those traditional organizations, such as AARP, that dominate the choices for mature Americans who want a say in the future of the nation.  Where those other organizations may boast of their power to set the agendas for their memberships, AMAC takes its marching orders from its members.  We act and speak on their behalf, protecting their interests, and offering a conservative insight on how to best solve the problems they face today.

When I was 10 years old, my grandmother told me, the government never gives you anything that someday they will not expect a return. The return will cost you more than what you received. I’m 57 years old and never forgot her words. My grandfather believed laziness was a sin that would destroy a family and ultimately the country. He never allowed any of his children nor his grandchildren to be lazy. There was always something that needed to be done around the house. We have spoiled our children by wanting them to have a better life than what we had. This included making sure they had the best of everything, even if it meant parents working two jobs to get it for them. Now they expect us to pay for their sex, whether is birthcontrol, sex changes, or gay marriage. Will your children help you in your needs when… Read more »

It is a prettly low move to politicize this crisis. This is a time for mourning and unity not for attack propoganda.

If Obama did not pay enough attention to the crisis then you would attack him for that and call him a “Muslim”.

No matter what he can’t win with Mr. Weber or this org.

Concerned Compassionate

You know, I am starting to conclude that any president except a Republican will draw nothing but complaints and criticism from this group no matter what he does.

If Obama did not pay enough attention to the crisis then you would attack him for not caring or for being a “Muslim”.

If he does pay attention, you will attack him for attempting to draw attention away from more “important” concerns.

He can’t win.

And, it is a prettly low move to attempt to play politics with this crisis. This is a time for mourning not for political attack propoganda.

When this tragedy happened and obama knew about it, he should have stayed at the white house and focused on getting some help to our people in the consulate. I simply cannot believe that he continued on with campaigning in Las Vegas and other places while people reporting to him were out telling lies about what happened and blaming some unknown video. His campaigning took priority over the lives of our brave Americans. That clearly tells me that he is not fit to be our president.

Obama has Lied about so much it is time for him to be Impeached. He and His Family have wasted a lot of our Tax payers money. I can not understand why Bush is blamed for all the thing the liberals did in 2006 – 2008.

I don’t care about the political manipulation of Mr. Obama in obfuscating the issue. My concern is that 4 Americns have died while the president the all those watching have allowed to happen. This is an act of treason and needs to be addressed as such. Let us not pretend that he has nothing to do with it.

Let us help Romney/Ryan take back our greatest country in the Universe!

So the incompetent handling of the 9/11 attack on Libya and the subsequent cover-up of his decision to leave four Americans to die has allowed Obama to deflect attention from his incompetent handling of our economy. Do we see the common element here? It’s Obama’s shear incompetence and dangerous ideology. His ideology of appeasement in the area of foreign policy and his pursuit of furthering socialism in his economic transformation of this country has left us with more enemies emboldened to act against us and a weaker economy with which to fund our defense from such enemies. If people in this country have not been awoken from their apathetic stupor after all this, then we as a country are truly finished. Vote for Romney on November 6 or accept the consequences of continued apathy.

I’m so glad it worked out for him since he screwed up the kidnapping of ambasador stevens to trade for the blind cleric.

Where did my comment go?

I agree that the Libyan situation has allowed the president to, momentarily at least, shift from having to explain his dismal economic policies. However, how in the world will he ever be able to successfully explain his reaction to and cover up of the real situation about the Benghazi attack? Let’s face it: President Obama lives up to the saying, “Screw ups screw up.” Whether it’s on the subject of economics or about foreign affairs, this president is a “screw up.” And he’s a dishonest one at that.
