AMAC Delegate Robert Curry (OK-01) l and Gabe Sherman District Director for Congressman James Bridenstine

by Amy Gerak – AMAC Delegates

From AMAC Delegate Rob Curry OK-01:

Rob Curry…visited with Gabe Sherman, District Director for Congressman James Bridenstine, 1st District Oklahoma…Gabe and Rob …(discussed) the conservative differences between AARP and AMAC, suggestions regarding changes to Social Security, lowering taxes, and decreasing the size of the Federal government.  Rob and Gabe (also reviewed) the (defund Obamacare) hand signed-petitions from Oklahoma residents…

Rob has set a(follow-up)meeting with Congressman James Bridenstine for Friday, August 23, 2013 at 10:00 am to…discuss…Social Security reform…”

From AMAC Delegate John Loughman PA-18:

“This morning I met with Tim Murphy PA-18 and his staff…The meeting was teleconferenced with video and audio to the Washington, DC office. I presented my 280 petitions to defund Obamacare …(Rep) Murphy made a strong case that Obamacare…could be repealed if Conservatives controlled both houses (of Congress) and the White House…I gave them the Social Security Worksheet which they will study…We also discussed the 2nd Amendment which the Congressman strongly supports…”

From AMAC Delegate Jerry Ling, KY-04:

“I visited the office of Thomas Massie and Rand Paul today. I left the packet of “Defund Obamacare” responses for Mr. Massie along with two of the monthly magazines for him…

I also got into Rand Paul’s district office and met with Bernie Kunkel, his area rep.

Bernie remembered me from my having left an introduction and info about AMAC under his office door a month or so ago. He would like to get me and my wife to visit with Rand on his next visit here. I left two magazines with Bernie for Rand. Bernie was impressed when I mentioned again the number of members we have in the KY 4th.”

From AMAC Delegate Wade Burt, TN-06:

” I met with Congressman Black’s office last week. We discussed a number of issues and I delivered the petitions regarding defunding Obamacare. We also discussed a Town Hall meeting and they are discussing (a possible) 4th quarter (time) for the event, possibly in two locations, given the diverse territory she covers.”

From AMAC Delegate Nancy Stanchina, MN-06, reached out twice to her local office:

Delegate Nancy Stanchina, MN-06 (r) and Deb Steiskal, District Director for Congresswoman Michele Bachmann

Delegate Nancy Stanchina, MN-06 (r) and Deb Steiskal, District Director for Congresswoman Michele Bachmann

” I met with Deb Steiskal, District Director, of MN 6th district. She elaborated on how Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s office is there to help the constituents of the 6th district in various capacities…

Using the information which AMAC distributes, I was able to explain the profile of AMAC more thoroughly. It was a learning session for us both!

I am looking forward to our next meeting. This was my second enjoyable visit to Congresswoman Bachmann’s office.”

And…

” I just returned from the kick-off social gathering of Tom Emmers (R) running for 6th Congressional District (Michele B’s seat)…He did not know of AMAC so I handed him a… brochure. He said he would gladly hand them out from his headquarters for us!”

From AMAC Delegate Greg Parker, CA-39:

AMAC Delegate Greg Parker, CA-39 (l) and Young Kim, a member of Congressman Ed Royce's Staff

AMAC Delegate Greg Parker, CA-39 (l) and Young Kim, a member of Congressman Ed Royce’s Staff

“I met with Mrs. Young Kim, who is a member of Congressman Ed Royce’s staff in the 39th district. The meeting lasted about 30 minutes and went very well, as I accomplished the 4 objectives I had planned.  First of all, using the fact sheet, I introduced AMAC. She had never heard of AMAC and really liked that we are a “conservative alternative to AARP”. She repeated that line several times and said it once again at the end of our meeting as I was leaving. AMAC is now on their radar, which is great. Secondly, I briefly went over the social security proposal and hit some of the highlights. She said she would fax/scan the proposal and the NCPA letter to her colleague in DC who is the Congressman’s legislative assistant. Third, I provided the defund Obamacare petitions. She seemed particularly impressed with the petitions and said they would be “very helpful”. Additionally, she mentioned that the Congressman would not be supporting the Obamacare exemption for federal employees. Lastly, she agreed to take a picture with me…Overall it was a very good experience.”
