AMAC Chief Dan Weber Says the Elderly are Under Siege Because of Obamacare

Senator Harry Reid was politically motivated when he
called opponents of the health care law liars, he said

by John Grimaldidan-featured

WASHINGTON, DC, Mar 7 – The focus in the nation’s Capital this week was on the elderly who are under siege as a result of Obamacare when the House Republican Conference met to consider alternative solutions to the health care law.

A parade of seniors was on hand to voice objections to the president’s signature Health Care law. “They told of discontinued insurance policies, onerous premium increases, the shrinking pool of health care providers, soaring co-pays and out-of-pocket costs and the loss of home health care services,” according to senior citizen advocate Dan Weber.

“Senator Harry Reid calls them ‘liars,’ claiming their opposition to Obamacare was politically motivated,” said Weber, who is president of the Association of Mature American Citizens. “These are real people with real horror stories about how their lives have been impacted by the law. It is Reid who was politically motivated in making his outrageous characterization of the very people the law is supposed to help.”

The Washington Times published an opinion article written by Weber recently in which he brought attention to one of the most “reprehensible” provisions of the Affordable Care Act—the $22 billion reduction in home health care services. The cut will be phased in over four years starting this year, but it has “perilous” implications for health care delivery and for the economy, Weber explained.

It does “irreparable damage to recipients of Medicare’s home health care services, those who are aged, homebound and sicker than the average Medicare population. Indeed, nearly two-thirds of Medicare home health care users live at or below the federal poverty level, meaning they are the most economically compromised of America’s precious senior citizens,” Weber wrote.

The article pointed out that the decrease in funding for this much-needed benefit has far reaching effects. “It will hit the small businesses that provide home health care nationwide, and is already doing so. More than 90 percent of those providing home health care are small businesses. According to the U.S. Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, 40 percent of these companies will be operating ‘at a loss’ — that is, they will likely fold or end up in bankruptcy — by 2017 as a result of the cut.”

Weber said that he is angered by the “ill-founded excuses” made by what he called “liberal elitist surrogates” like Senator Reid for the dismal failure of Obamacare.

“Attacking our weakest senior citizens is no way to run a country. It is, in a word, reprehensible. This abomination devastates another existing and essential Medicare promise, while throwing one more gut-wrenching punch at this job sector. Does the truth no longer matter? Do these lives no longer matter? Do these businesses and jobs no longer matter? When will Mr. Obama and his allies in Congress let up and allow Americans to look after themselves again, as we used to quite well?”

Weber’s full article is available at the AMAC Web site, www.amac.us.

The power of the people has been usurped (stolen) by the very people who are suppose to represent us. The Republican Party should have fought back. I am not impressed with them at all, yes there are some good ones in that party but it is not Ronald Reagan’s party. I doubt there will ever be a revolt because there are too many people on assistance. They will not bite the hand that feeds them.

I’ve heard nothing but negative comments since Obama has been office but that’s all I’ve heard. We don’t have any strong leadership in Washington to do anything. A Republican would have been impeached by now but Obama keeps right on walking over us, passing bills to kill us.
As Christians are we doing our part? Our we on our knees asking that God lets revival start in our hearts and spread across our land? We have what we have because we haven’t been faithful.

The whole idea of obamacare and senior citizens is clear in the document. Obama wants to limit severely medical services to seniors so they will die and the country will be rid of anyone over 65.

We are at the tipping point where the gimmees outnumber the givers.
As long as the courts strike down voter I.D. the fraud will continue. Activist Judges should be impeached and removed from their positions. Lying corrupt politicians must be held accountable but when they investigate themselves there is no hope of that happening. Time and money corrupts Politicians and it is time for term limits

I agree with a lot of what is being said above. As a senior and a still working RN, I can see a lot of damage to be done in cutting down on home health care. These are the patients who caregivers are trying to keep out of the SICK hospitals, where if you are hospitalized more than three days you are susceptible to can-be fatal organisms. What can be done to keep this change from happening?

In reading all of the comments – the reason our Country is in such a bad way is three-fold: #1. Overwhelming majority of our teachers (grade school, high school, & College) are committed far left Marxist people! They teach their filth from the very begging of our young people’s lives. #2. 99% of the so called Media is left leaning – so all of their communist, Marxist, Lenin thinking is massaged into their reporting everyday on every subject. #3. Since minorities are growing every day, the average White American felt it only right to put a “silver-tongue”, lying, black man… Read more »

I have Medicare Advantage. With a dental plan. I had to have a cap and it cost 1000.00. Only 300.00 was covered by the plan by Aetna. Retired seniors can’t shoulder that kind of cost. How can we do it? A lot of us are simple neglecting ourselves so we don’t go into debt.

I was under the impression that the home health care services offered to the elderly were there to keep them in their homes and not in a Nursing Home. The cost savings for home health care vs Nursing Home is enormous. Ignoring the personal plight of the elderly altogether and looking at only the cost (which is what our current regime seems most interested in), then how can these cuts help the bottom line? Medicare may not pay for Nursing Home care but Medicaid does. So, is that part of the over-reaching plan…to transfer care of the elderly to the… Read more »

My Flag As I look at my tattered torn flag I will order a new one as soon as spring winds are over As a former soldier and a proud American It is more than a Flag to me . I think of all of the unknown soldiers buried in graves overseas . I think of all the sailors buried at sea. The grieving parents wives, and children filled with sorrow. I think of all the shed blood that was shed for me and my family to live free. I think of a friend father who was killed in Korea… Read more »

Jeanette W, you are exactly right. Everyone complains but nobody does anything about it. If the entire nation was asked years ago if we would like something similar to the Affordable Care Act the answer would have been laughed at. The president wants it and all hie kronies push it and they all get millions in their pockets. All the while “Joe Six Pack” just goes along.

I ‘am a vet. retired truck driver, and 72 years old , on fixed income . in 2004 when he gave a speech at the demo. con. a reporter ,said he will be our next president, I wonder if that reporter is still –in love with his remark . the last election was sickening ,because .— 3 to 5–million people did not vote, is because Mitt is a Mormon, look at what we got now? look at what the dems. and the press has and how their ideas are destroying this great nation, hope–and–change. ok congress get off of your… Read more »

As a Home Health Care employee and senior citizen, this troubles me. Not only am I witnessing people in need of Home Health being denied benefits necessary for their well being and/or rehabilitation , i am seeing more and more DME (durable medical equipment) being denied also. The new codes to be used to diagnosis patients is a nightmare. People need to start taking a stand now, its not too late.

I am outraged and saddened at what is happening to this once great country. We reward those that do not help themselves by providing welfare to them, sometimes for a lifetime, working to provide legal status to the millions that are here illegally and then turning our backs on the elderly who made this country what it is. Thousands upon thousands have given their lives for this Great Nation and for the freedom of the world only to have it being destroyed by one asshole and a party of ignorance. The elderly must be taken care of way beyond any… Read more »

We just sit back and let them have their way and do nothing! God save us from this bunch of dictators. They are in this for all they can get out of it and are ruining our once great nation! We need to ban together and clean house!

I am appalled that Americans can be so blind about this president and the harm he has inflicted on this country now and in plans of the future! It amazes me that the efforts to impeach or have him resign have not been pushed hard and fast. What will it take for Congressmen to get this man out? Why aren’t the most wealthy in this country supporting this, rallying against the wealth supporting Obama? Other presidents have been ousted for less blatant issues it seems. We need to stop making excuses. We can’t even trust the media to address issues… Read more »

I, for one, cannot understand HOW our so-called president, and our so-called elected “people’s representatives”, stay in office. I cannot fathom why the citizens of this once great, and free, nation stand idly by and allow the ever increasing loss of their constitutional rights and protections. It seems as if our people are allowing these abhorerances to take place while BLINDLY thinking things will all work out for the best. Everyone had better wake up and realize that our elected officials, including our so-called president, are REFORMING America to suit their own private agendas. One thing is certain, once rights… Read more »

This President is a little of both Hitler and Stalin. He will never relent and will never love this country. Every move he makes is to either weaken or destroy our way of life and National security. I believe he would to hand our country over to his radical Muslim buddies. This anti American should be impeached and tried for all his crimes against the American people
