AMAC Action Launches Critical Campaign to Rally Support for Proof of Citizenship in Federal Elections

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) is accepting public comments on a petition that would require documentary proof of citizenship (DPOC) when registering to vote in federal elections. AMAC Action has launched a major campaign to support this proposed rule, which is a critical step toward restoring integrity and trust in America’s election system.

In less than a day, AMAC members have already submitted more than 6,700 public comments through the campaign portal—demonstrating overwhelming support for ensuring that only eligible U.S. citizens can vote in federal elections. With the comment period still open, AMAC Action is urging even more Americans to speak up and join the effort to close one of the largest loopholes in the federal voter registration process.

Under current law, voter registration for federal elections relies on an honor system; applicants merely check a box attesting that they are citizens. There is no requirement for election officials to verify that claim. This unverifiable self-attestation invites fraud, fuels public skepticism, and undermines the legitimacy of election outcomes.

“This issue is critical to the integrity of our democratic process,” said Andy Mangione, AMAC Action Senior Vice President. “Requiring documentary proof of citizenship is common sense and long overdue. The American people deserve to know their votes won’t be canceled out by individuals who are ineligible to participate.”

The National Voter Registration Act grants the EAC the authority to require documentation to verify voter eligibility. If passed, the petition would allow voters to present a wide range of documents to prove their citizenship, including:

  • U.S. passport or passport card
  • Certificate of Naturalization or U.S. Citizenship
  • REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or state ID
  • U.S. military or dependent ID
  • Enhanced Driver’s License or Tribal Card
  • U.S. Citizen ID Card

As AMAC Newsline has previously reported, data from the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) shows the noncitizen voting problem is already widespread. In Pennsylvania’s Allegheny County alone, 139 noncitizens were registered between 2006 and 2018 – 27 percent of whom voted. In Michigan, more than 1,400 noncitizens were removed from the rolls over the past decade. Similar issues have been reported in Arizona and North Carolina, among others.

PILF’s research shows that these incidents are only the tip of the iceberg, as many states conceal or ignore noncitizen registration. With more than 24 million noncitizens currently living in the U.S. and millions more having crossed the southern border under the Biden-Harris administration, the potential for abuse has never been greater.

Meanwhile, dozens of states still do not require photo ID to vote, and many accept forms of ID – like student IDs or standard driver’s licenses – that make no distinction between citizens and noncitizens.

AMAC Action has made stopping noncitizen voting a top priority in 2024, mobilizing members in support of legislation like the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act and backing constitutional amendments in several states that would limit voting to U.S. citizens only.

“This petition before the EAC gives the American people a real chance to secure our elections,” Mangione said. “With one clear rule, we can restore confidence and keep our voter rolls clean. Now is the time to act.”

I went to hospital & had to show ID and when I go to vote I give them my name. As citizens our most important rite is to vote & the Dems have made a mockery of it.

Even though states control their individual drivers licensing requirements it wouldn’t hurt for all states to include a “place of birth” on the drivers license or real ID card. It’s only a two letter thing just like addressing an envelope to mail. Example I live in Pennsylvania, “PA”. I was born in Tennessee, “TN”. My PA license has enough room for donor info and veterans info of which I am both so it shouldn’t be a big deal to squeeze in a two letter state “place of birth” identifier.

The right to vote belongs to those who are legal citizens of the country in which they vote. They are the ones who must live under the headship of the leader and leaders legally chosen in the country in which they choose to live. The voters have the right to know that the votes cast were legitimate, legal votes. Voters have the right to know that each voter has been verified as a legitimate resident citizen. If the candidate or candidates running for any office have to import votes from illegal voters, they are not the leaders needed to run any country.

Our country has an abundance of illegals voting in our elections as well as mail-out ballot issues. I’ve knocked on over 105,000 doors campaigning. As an example 2020 elections, first, I’ll use the horrible unamerican state of California. While I was campagning there in southern areas, ine 2 bedroom house had over 300 registered voters, all listed as Democrates, for me to survey. The elder lady told me, ” people just pay her to use her address to vote and get free government services and most of of list didn’t live in this country.” There were other less extreme exampes, a one bedroom apartment with 13 voters listed. In North Carolina we were trying to help clean-up voter rolls. Mothers/grandmothers, in certain areas, would say they’re children and grandchildren would use her address, come to her house to sign then the’d fill out ballots. Also, many would deceased or military family members that have moved up to decades ago. Georgia was a popular state to have people taking ballots to Seniors door to fill out or door to door harvesting where some seniors would still have their Absentee ballot after signing as bottot the crooks turned in for for them. We need to have one day voting in person and stop mail-out ballots.

Besides only US citizens voting, maybe also set it so only US citizens can run for political offices, like Mayor, Senator or Representative. Can not have dual citizenship to run for these offices, only US citizenship.

No other countries that allow voting around the world let voters vote without some sort of ID. America being the most advanced country in the world should not allow voting without proof either. Everybody knows that it is only Democrats that fight so hard to stop voter ID because they cannot win any election either local, state or federal without cheating and fraud. I read a lot of history. Democrats have been cheating to win elections for over well over 100 years. It must stop. There are QR codes for everything. There is no reason why every legal registered voter cannot be assigned a unique QR code to vote. The QR code could be put on a drivers license just like a real ID gold star. One voter, one vote.

Considering all the documents I needed to upgrade my license from a regular license to the enhanced version license, that application should be the only licensing application that includes voter registration request that DMV sends on to the Board of Elections. Hey of the states, mine included, want to allow people to get a regular drivers license, that only includes passing the written and driving test and apron of a state address, so they have a proof of state identification, that is fine, BUT, remove the extra section on those regular licenses that allow voter registration that doesn’t make DMV check the identification as needed for the enhanced license, which is only available for US citizens. The State Board of Elections should have already demanded this, since they already are claiming that they have to verify voter eligibility, which puts the burden of only allowing registering to vote by citizens. And if the citizen claims they are not drivers, they still can and should get the enhanced ID if they don’t want to hassle with getting a passport.

The voter fraud became the biggest problem when the Democrats required the drivers license bureaus of every state to register voters. In Mississippi the Circuit Clerks of each county were responsible for doing this. The license examiner has a lot to do by checking the person for suspensions or outstanding warrants or if there is arrest warrants for the individual, They can easily take a voter application from a non-citizen that marked that they were a citizen. They can then vote illegally. This law needs to be overturned and return the voter registration to the proper office. That way they can ask and see the proper proof of citizenship before registering someone to vote.

Along the voter fraud line it has been told of persons voting in their maiden name and married name which means they have voted twice. How easy would that be to happen?

Driver’s License Departments should not have been designated as the place to register to vote. Voting is a privlege and not be a rushed process to save time in the process to register.
Only your town, city, or county clerk where you live should have the ability to register a citizen to vote. The proof of citizenship when you register would be your passport, or copy of your Birth Certificate and your Driver’s License with photo.

This helps but still leaves an opening for fraudulent voting. In Nutsafornia, illegal aliens can get driver licenses.

I live on LI NY and every school budget vote I’m required to show voter photo ID to vote but not in General Elections. Plus if the school budget gets voted down it’s immediately rescheduled for a revote and almost always passes and if not school buses and after school activities were canceled.
