Is Your Country America, or Somalia?

Maine Rep. Deqa Dhalac (D-South Portland)

Democrats in many blue states – like Maine – maintain narrow control by sweeping into position anyone they can find to run, then ruthlessly enforcing discipline. Sometimes things boomerang, and the unexpected happens. A Maine Democrat legislator last week made clear her loyalty is to…Somalia.

Maine welcomes legal immigrants, today and every day. America has nine visas for entering the U.S. legally. Democrats, however, push to hide illegal aliens in Maine. Republicans strongly oppose that idea. Illegal aliens are…illegal. They also weigh down infrastructure, schools, and safety – regardless of their origin.

Today, Maine is home to 6,000 Somali immigrants, many naturalized. Naturalized Americans are typically a wonder, a strength, and patriotic.

Some, however, keep split loyalties. While most Maine Somalis integrate, work, and assimilate, some do not. While data is sparse, the top language for non-English speaking students in Lewiston is Somali; many “send regular payments” to Somalia, and Maine has roughly 1,500 Muslims, of whom most are Somali.

Even under Obama, questions arose about split loyalties, his Treasury questioning whether money went to Somali terrorists, specifically al-Shabab, an offshoot of al-Qaida, which is the group responsible for the attacks on 9/11.

On that issue, balance was always tough, as legal immigrants from any country – Ireland to Guatemala, Armenia to Somalia – can send money to less fortunate kin in their country of origin. De-naturalizations are rare, 42 last year nationally.

But on loyalty to America, there is honestly no room for compromise. When a legal immigrant becomes a naturalized citizen, they take an oath. The oath is explicit.

As a former U.S. Court of Appeals clerk for the 9th Circuit, serving a Reagan appointee, I regularly (monthly) watched these ceremonies with appreciation for the greatness of America. We are a beacon for the world, where many wish to come, and few can.

The oath includes these words: “I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen.”

The oath continues: “…that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by law…”

It goes on: “…that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.”

So, in an oath to God, a naturalized American swears to “entirely renounce” other loyalties, and swears unswerving “allegiance and fidelity” to America, backed up by a promise to serve America as needed in arms. Making clear the seriousness of this pledge before God, the aspiring citizen swears to have no competing loyalties, “no mental reservation of purpose of evasion.”

Now, we come to Maine. A Somali-born, naturalized, Democrat member of the Maine legislature, oddly out of sync with that solemn oath, last week described her convictions – offhandedly but sincerely – as committed to “our country, Somalia.”

If this were not arresting enough, she has neither recanted nor apologized. Nor has any Democrat legislator weighed in, allowing her to casually diminish, if not “renounce and abjure” her allegiance to America, replacing it with “Somalia.”

The thing is more than surprising; it is sobering. Why? Societies with split loyalties historically tend to erode. Pluralism – from many in one – only works when the nation to which people legally migrate becomes their home, its culture theirs.

Somalia is a beleaguered nation, terror-ridden, and was – lest we forget – the horrifying center of “Blackhawk Down,” Battle of Mogadishu that killed 18 American soldiers, wounding more than 70. America lost blood for Somalia.

Never mind that, or her prior oath. This Somali-born Democrat thinks Somalia is her country, not America. She says so without equivocation or explanation. She is apparently proud of that cross-allegiance, which defies her citizenship oath.

Incredibly, this same representative is the original sponsor of legislation to make Maine a “sanctuary state,” a bill that sits on the Democrat governor’s desk to punish Maine police who share data on illegal aliens in Maine, HP 1315.

The outrage is compounded by her having helped create the incorrectly named “Office of New Americans,” spending millions to help illegal aliens get into Maine and get free everything – with money earned by lawful Maine citizens.

More, this representative with split loyalties is tied to a network of “non-profits” that received no-bid contracts, on public data – helping Democrats keep control.

If this were not enough, Maine legislators – of which she is one – take another oath under Article IX of Maine’s Constitution, affirming they will support the U.S. and Maine Constitutions, saying they “do swear” to do so.

And if all this were not enough, to ice the cake, she was recently recorded at a Somali or Muslim convention saying she wished she had gone to Minnesota. Well, this is America. Planes, trains, and buses leave regularly.

Bottom line: Whether any of this suggests denaturalization, a process triggered by concealing information in naturalization, or helping others to do so, is unclear. More simply, as a Maine citizen and taxpayer, I want this representative to apologize, to renounce Somalia, pledge her sole loyalty to America, or resign.

She swore an oath of citizenship, renouncing all foreign loyalties, if she now declares it null and void, she should, a. be prosecuted for perjury with her oath of citizenship, b. prosecuted for perjury with her oath of office as a representative, c. prosecuted for treason, d. prosecuted for failure to register as a foreign agent, e. removed from office immediately, f. have her citizenship revoked, and last, but not least be deported to Somalia upon completion of the jail she no doubt should be sentenced to.

Well, RBC, this is just a continuing saga of an ILLEGAL INVASION of foreigners that the previous administration allowed to happen. There is an Islamic 100-year agenda to take down our nation and slowly and surely, IT IS HAPPENING BEFORE OUR EYES.

Why don’t they go back to their county and make a difference. They are needed there; we do not need people that do not want to be an American. What the hell?

There is no indication that anyone asked the Maine Rep. Deqa Dhalac to come here to the United States of America — but I do believe there are a sizable number of patriotic Americans who would not hesitate to tell her to leave because of the disrespect shown to this Country and it’s laws. That legislation that Rep. Dhalac is a co- sponsor of HP 1315 amounts to an attack on the police and the concept of law and order . Democrats who back up that sort of political wrong doing are just plain No Good ! Thinking about the qualities that make for good character, having a sense of purpose in life, and Faith in God all combine to form a code of conduct that will uplift society
And thinking that is truthful and and respectful – not corrupt – that is the honorable way to go about being an American citizen.
Good work with this message RBC — this article helps to identify what is right and wrong and it is of great importance.

All Muslims should be removed from America. They hate us and their goal is just to take over America! If they have no dedication and loyalty to America, they need to go back to Somalia or whatever hell hole they came from. Not welcome here!

Is there no way to revoke citizenship? If she truly, and I’m not saying she has or hasn’t, demonstrates loyalty to her birth country, there must be some way to remove her.

Seems no oath, even an oath to tell the truth while on the witness stand is sacred to many of the people in the U.S. We have an entire bunch of radical liberals in all facets of government across the country who have not kept their oath of office nor the oath of telling the truth when before a court or Congressional investigation. If we are to remain a free country, we must begin holding ALL people responsible and punish the ones who break their oath of office and LYING!! It is disgusting that we have the likes of Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tailib in Congress. They should have been thrown out for their disloyalty to the U.S. when they first showed they are treasonous and supported our enemies. Why did that not happen??

People are allowed to ignore that oath that Mr. Charles mentions, because a court years ago allowed dual citizenship. Republicans need to advance a Constitutional amendment to eliminate dual citizenship.

Her statements & positions are well documented & as such, she should immediately be Censured from all office positions, Naturalization be immediately revoked AND deported. She broke her oath she swore to when accepted for US Naturalization. If she thinks she knows what’s best for Somalian people, let her live & represent them there, as a Somalia citizen.

Obama proclaimed himself a citizen of the world, need we say more, Moslem is a Moslem, that is his identity, not nationality, or geography , that means nothing. If an American votes for someone who has no interest to integrate and makes no secret of it, then the fault is with the American who should not be allowed to vote. This is diversity and multi culti in action.

An oath is an oath! We now have a man serving time in prison, for lying to get elected to our congress. So, when will the Maine state leaders implement this same punishment to the elected leaders that tout their loyalty to their former country, which the fled. The big mystery is Why did the leave their native country if it was so wonderful.

We cannot allow them to change our land, from the hell hole they left!

Ultimately, and as always, it’s up to the Maine voters to fix all of this! They can vote in as much of this garbage as they want until it gets painful enough for them to want change. I just hope that they wake up sometime before they are past the point of no return.

Since Ms Dhalac has evidently betrayed both of the oaths she took–the one to become a naturalized citizen and the one to become a state legislator, and she should have to pay the price for her disloyalty. In regard to her political office, she should either resign or be forced to resign and go back to being a regular resident of the state of Maine. In regard to her betrayal of her citizenship oath–that citizenship should be rescinded and she should be deported back to the country to whom she gives her allegiance–Somalia. She evidently never had any intention of living up to the vows she swore and as a result, she should be made to suffer the consequences of being dishonest and disloyal.

Does she look like an American with that garb on her? Is she speaking as an American who took an oath? Time to take care of business. Stop illegal and legal immigration! And that means refugees. See where the generosity has gotten us? We should have refused the Dutch and British ships in the 1700’s!

Please go home and take your Somalian Flag with you. This goes for anyone flying a different flag than the American Flag!

Any immigrant coming in legally or not should never be allowed to run for any office in our government. They don’t understand how our government works & what we stand for. They don’t follow our laws, nor the Constitution. They just don’t get it, period!!! U.S. is too lenient. I don’t think any other country would allow this.

She would likely have a home easily in Minnesota where obama (lower case intentional) moved hundreds of thousands of Somalians during his term. I have family in Minneapolis and I’ve watched the deterioration of that once beautiful city over the past 15 years. The deterioration caused by a community of people who will not give up their third-world culture even to live in the U.S. The looks of their neighborhoods and communities underscore that. Once clean middle-class neighborhoods and suburbs are now trashed! Police cars sit in the parking lots of big-box stores as warnings (which are not heeded) that there is an expectation of civility…that is not heeded. Unknowningly, I walked into a Walmart I had frequented many times in the past while visiting and was totally shocked by the appearance, the outright rudeness and the vicious scowls I got from not only clerks but clientele, because I wasn’t wearing a burkha,(sp) had no headdress on, was white – you get the picture. I don’t frighten easy; but I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Our country, beginning in 2008, unleashed a monster – open borders! Thank God for a President who is trying to turn that around. Every state in the union needs to be aware that Islam wants the western world and is out to get it by infiltration, loose immigration policies and as this woman did….becoming a politician – remember, they make the laws. And, remember, Sharia Law is something muslims want our country to have.

This is a person who should be impeached from her seat in the Maine legislature and denaturalized. She is blatantly working against her oath. Her anti-assimilation views are at the core anti-American. She is offensive and the question arises, why did she come? Yes Somalia is a disaster and living there must be Hell, but she does not deserve the asylum of the USA if she is going to work against all that we stand for and hold dear.
