BREAKING: Trump Blocks California’s EV Mandate

On Thursday, President Donald Trump signed three Congressional Review Act resolutions at the White House, permanently rolling back California’s sweeping electric vehicle mandate. The move nullifies rules that aimed to ban the sale of new gasoline-powered cars by 2035, set zero-emission requirements for heavy-duty trucks, and tighten diesel emissions standards. The president emphasized that the rollbacks safeguard consumer choice, industry competitiveness, and economic freedom.

The Congressional Review Act (CRA), enacted in 1996, gives Congress an expedited pathway to overturn federal agency regulations. Once a federal “rule” is submitted to Congress and published in the Federal Register, lawmakers have a 60 legislative-day window to introduce a joint resolution of disapproval.

The Senate fast-tracks these resolutions—non-debatable motions limited to 10 hours—while both chambers can pass them via simple majority. If the president signs the resolution, the targeted rule is immediately invalidated and blocked from being reissued in a “substantially similar” form without explicit legislative authorization.

Trump and congressional Republicans have now wielded the CRA repeatedly, including this high-profile reversal of California’s EV mandate. That mandate was greenlit by the Biden EPA, which granted California waivers to impose its new restrictions. The CRA resolutions Trump signed overturned the Biden EPA’s waivers.

At the signing, Trump reminded attendees that California’s ability to sharply dictate emissions policy has influenced 11 other states, affecting roughly one-third of the U.S. auto market. He described the mandates as “destructive regulations” that drive up costs, limit consumer freedom, and burden automakers with conflicting state standards. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin reinforced this, highlighting the rollback as part of the “Unleashing American Energy” agenda—bringing relief to automakers, restoration of choice for drivers, and a boost to American jobs.

Conservative groups and auto-industry stakeholders celebrated the move. The Alliance for Automotive Innovation, whose membership includes Ford and GM, applauded the relief this brings from “unrealistic” emissions targets. The American Petroleum Institute hailed the development as “car freedom day,” crediting Trump with reversing liberal policies that picked winners and losers in the market.

But the political storm over California’s EV mandate appears to be only just beginning. Governor Gavin Newsom, California Attorney General Rob Bonta, and ten other Democrat-led states filed a federal lawsuit within hours of Trump signing the resolutions. They argue that California’s waiver and EV standards were granted under the Clean Air Act—not typical agency rulemaking—placing them outside the CRA’s scope. The suit warns the action jeopardizes air quality, public health gains, and even California’s federal highway funding.

Simultaneously, Republicans in the House are advancing a host of companion proposals similarly aimed at rolling back the Biden administration’s war on gas-powered vehicles: eliminating EV tax credits, levying new fees on EVs, and slashing other environmental rules.

Politically, this episode cements Trump’s reputation as a deregulator keen on challenging state-level green agendas. It places the legal battle at the center of the federal-state dynamic, with the courts—potentially the Supreme Court—poised to make landmark decisions on CRA limits and clean-air authority.

For conservatives, the CRA-based reversal is a win for deregulation, free markets, and federalism. Even amid looming litigation and environmentalist backlash, Trump’s action effectively targets one of America’s most aggressive climate policies and shifts the balance toward economic freedom—and a redefined federal role in environmental mandates.

Once again, President Trump is correcting a situation that should have never been allowed to occur in the first place. Of course, the MSM will only echo the talking points that they have been given by the DNC to repeat ad nauseum to the woefully ignorant portion of the public that remains transfixed by the TV talking heads.

Newsom and his mob pass asinine laws that mandate the abolition of everything they disagree with. Gasoline run anything is of course foremost, followed by natural gas waterheaters, gas furnaces, and gas ranges. These zealots have no regard and frankly don’t care how this impacts the ordinary citizen. California politicians and bureaucrats aren’t looking out for their constituents, they are oppressing them. Unfortunately, the democrat legislation method of making people do their will is to force them. Until these tyrants are removed, this will never end.

Newsom, one of the “High Priests” of the Progressive Religion, does what he does to further the globalist/communist agenda of complete control/regulation of the masses. Trump and his administration are God-sends, meant to stand in the way of, if not defeat, this evil Marxist effort to subjugate We The People. Let Freedom Ring!

As usual, Trump Derangement Syndrome is part and parcel of the Newsom mob’s mania. To most rational people, Newsom has his head so far up his backside that they have to pipe him sunlight, and even then he will never “see the light!” If Newsom ever becomes president, he will simply Californicate our entire nation with his dystopian ideology.

Of course it was immediately made into a court case. Not sit down and work out the differences and come to an agreement what is best for the country including CA. A democrat sit down and exchange ideas? That is an enigma wrapped in a riddle. Never ever going to happen. When they speak you better be quiet because as soon as you interrupt them you are rude or Heaven forbid if the person was female you are a woman hater. You must answer their questions with yes or no answers. Most things cannot be answered with a yes or no reply. They don’t do it themselves when they are asked to answer yes or no. They go into a rant talking over the questioner and yell louder if that person doesn’t shut up. Or they shout insults you are a moron or why don’t you go back to your Qanon. What? They are still on that kick? CA is wrong in everything they do. President Trump is helping the CA people to afford a decent living. LA and SF have become tent cities and growing day by day. This is not Trump’s fault but the leadership in these cities and the governor, by the name of Newsom’s, fault. The war in LA is Newsom and Bass fault. They wouldn’t quell the uprising. The destruction of the city businesses and prevent injuries or deaths. They didn’t care. If ICE agents are being killed they will celebrate it like they celebrate any crime committed by an illegal criminal. Hell they go to a foreign country demanding they be brought back because they should be home. Ametica is not their hime when you just walk into this country and commit crimes that are felonies. But then the democrats find nobody guilty of any crime. The victims are guilty for being there at the wrong time and place. You see their circular logic? They have stood for so long on the wrong side of everything they are not going to change anytime soon. They have brainwashed so many people with lie after lie. They see it as truth. Till we are living under Chinese Rule. Only then it is too late.

Newsom has to go if Californis is to survive. Then Bass and other like Democrats all must be voted out of Office. Prayerfully the Citizens of California will wakeup and understand their futures are on the line. Also, I would hope and pray President Trump and DOJ move to get directly involved ensuring Free and Secure Elections. Voter ID Laws are an absolute must! Plus, every State must have up to date Eligible Voter Registry.

Newsom and democrats repeatedly say that Trump is a danger to democracy. It is Newsom and the democrats that are a danger to democracy. They tell us that Trump is a dictator when it is actually the democrats with Newsom as the leader who are the dictators. I live in California so I have first hand experience at the restrictions and regulations they impose on us. This is a radical one party state that runs roughshod over us. There’s reports that Newsom wants to be president. Let me tell you my AMAC friends don’t let that happen. AMAC has articles about California’s mismanagement. Read those articles and ask yourself if you want that ideology and mismanagement happen in your state. It is terrible to live California. It is sad because California is a beautiful state with a wonderful climate. It’s too bad it was taken over by the socialists.

Governor Gavin Newsom is a man who cares about humanity but hates people. He feels it necessary to force his perverse ideas to “guide people in the direction of the demonic mental distortions. The only dangerous emissions are him and his comrades. The batteries used in EV are useless and expensive and hurt the environment.

Newsome is a demagog who wants to control people, and often insist everyone do things his way, even when it comes to small issues that are a matter of personal choice.

California is under God’s judgment because of this Caligula and the other mutant like his aunt, Simirnoff Pelosi, Half wit Kamala Harris and the devil mayor of Los Angeles. They will lead us into the brave new world, like Hitler, Stalin, Marx, and Mao wanted.

How about limiting the scope of the Environmental Protection Agency/EPA? It does have beneficial purposes as far as keeping manufacturing plants from dumping waste in rivers, and overly toxic emissions from factories’ furnaces (set a limit), etc., but limit EPA’s purpose and reach.

The “Climate Change” agenda has become more a wielding of power than a conscientious attempt to protect the planet God gave man control over. There is a huge difference between the power to protect and the power to abuse.

Newscumb is a numbskull, and his buddy the Knucklehead is even worse. Bonta should go, and Pencil Neck. That would be a good start! and lets not forget nut case Maxine! So too, the idiot from the SF Bay Area Swalwell (who took another loser’s place) is even worse! The reason we moved after 70 years in CA was the Democrat “Supermajority” that does nothing for the taxpayers, but tax and spend on (people not paying taxes as well as share amongst themselves)…

Trump claimed he would bring back COMMON SENSE this term. My common sense tells me that the Jan 6 protesters at Capitol , broke windows and physically attacked Capitol police officers & many were found guilty by court trials. Trump pardoned +1500 Jan 6 protesters his first day in office, so using common sense Trump calls them peaceful and loving patriots so that means that he condones protesters that perform these acts. Trump is setting an example of his common sense approach to peaceful protests.
