Maybe someone from my computer works could explain how to switch to Linux?
It is definitely a problem with the new computer updates and phones (also computers) if you do NOT want or need AI. You have to check every update and either delete the installation process or check if it is part of the update and then do not run it. Most people over 65 who are just about managing to use the computer for something other than e-mail cannot do most of these delete items themselves.
I have worked as a consultant for seniors trying to help them keep their computers safe, and it would be a full time job for me if I wanted to do it. AI is definitely NOT for everyone and should be kept as an option for anyone buying new computer or phone systems.
My e-mail was changed over to the most convoluted, overly screwed up mess. I complained and pleaded with “yahoo” so aptly named. What I got was a thinly veiled threat that if I didn’t like it I could close the account…an account I’ve had for almost 15 years. I don’t know how I did it but “miraculously” I piddled around on it and VOILA!!! I got my old simple, easy to read, all on one page and in regular print, not the almost 1st. Grade print we had to use in school years ago.
The answer to the question is, Yes and I don’t like it.
Yes. Google searches now show AI responses.
Unfortunately, if you look at Micro$oft’s usage agreement, you don’t own the software on your computer, you only lease it. It’s like Amazon and the agreement with eBooks you buy for the Kindle. They can pull it back anytime they like. This happened with a purchased copy downloaded of the book 1984.
We questioned whether to get Windows 11 & we dislike AI. We’re wondering whether we will be removed, from various media sites, if we don’t get it.
I see it on my phone on Google.
Not on my Mac yet unless use Rufus on Amazon
Storage automatically going to “cloud”, switching your search engine, directing search results to their benefit, forcing their “security programs” on you, new computers packed with advertising and proprietary programs, etc. Something needs to be done because we are definitely being controlled by Microsoft, Google, et al.
As work from my Ipad, I realize that this may handicap future generation! Just pray that our son will take care our grandchild
