WASHINGTON, DC, Sep 19 — When politicians support a scientific theory, take it with a grain of salt. Their reasons are more than likely to achieve political goals. Take the controversial issue of climate change.
Patrick Moore was there when the controversial organization known as Greenpeace was officially established back in 1971 with the goal of ensuring “the ability of the earth to nurture life in all its diversity.” He was a co-founder and president of the organization, which became a powerful political movement that Moore, ultimately, was not willing to accept and it caused him to take his leave.
Moore has a Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of British Columbia and in 2005 North Carolina State University awarded him an Honorary Doctorate of Science; he has an international reputation as an expert when it comes to the environment and climate change, says The Epoch Times.
He told the Times recently that “Greenpeace was ‘hijacked’ by the political left when they realized there was money and power in the environmental movement. [Left-leaning] political activists in North America and Europe changed Greenpeace from a science-based organization to a political fundraising organization.”
“Very few people believe the world is not warming. The record is clear that the world has been warming since about the year 1700, 150 years before we were using fossil fuels. 1700 was the peak of the Little Ice Age, which was very cold and caused crop failures and starvation. Before that, around 1000 A.D., was the Medieval Warm period when Vikings farmed Greenland. [And] before that, around 500 A.D., were the Dark Ages, and before that, the Roman Warm Period when it was warmer than today, and the sea level was 1–2 meters higher than today,” Moore said.
He dismisses the notion that man-made climate change is making the earth dangerously warm. On the contrary, he says, the earth is colder than it was in the past and carbon dioxide is lower than it has been in the planet’s history. “But you would never know this if you listen to all the people who benefit from the lie that the Earth will soon be too hot for life and that CO2 will become higher than in Earth’s history,” Moore said.
The history of climate change politics goes back more than a century. Dr. Steven Allen, a distinguished senior fellow at the investigative think tank, Capital Research Center, tells us that as far back as 127 years, for example, the New York Times was running stories with headlines such as “Geologists Think the World May Be Frozen Up Again.” In 1932, “the Times warned Melting Polar Ice Caps to Raise the Level of Seas and Flood the Continent.” By the middle of the last century, scary media coverage of climate change was on the rise. In 1958, for example, Harper’s Magazine was predicting The Coming Ice Age. “Generations of journalists promoted ‘scientific’ claims about the climate apocalypse. They should apply the first rule of both science and journalism: At all times, be skeptical.”
Back to Patrick Moore. When discussing the history of climate change, the “doomsayers” use a timeframe that goes back only to 1850. They call the eras prior to the mid-19th century the pre-industrial age, Moore said. “This ‘pre-industrial age’ was more than 3 billion years when life was on the Earth. Many climate changes [occurred during that period], including Ice Ages, Hothouse Ages, major extinctions due to asteroid impacts, and other unknown causes. Today, the Earth is in the Pleistocene Ice Age, which began 2.6 million years ago … so the most recent major glaciation, which peaked 20,000 years ago, was not the end of the Ice Age. We are still in the Pleistocene Ice Age no matter how the climate alarmists wish to deny this.”
Job 38:4-7 New King James Version 4 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.
If you offered scientist grant money to prove global cooling you would get scientific papers supporting same.
When I attended grade school in the 50’s our weekly science reader had articles on the coming ice age.
Awesome. I have been asking for a while “ When was the climate not changing?” and now I know. Never. These people are being led by chicken little and trying to drag the whole world with them. They need to be stopped. Thanks for the great article.
Most physicists and astrophysicists have been trying to get the message out for decades that the notion of man-made climate change was a fallacy. A massive financial hoax being perpetrated by those looking to profit, via both money and power, off of the general ignorance and gullibility of the public. All by creating a sort of mass hysteria or cult-like religion around the scheme of what is now called climate change. Like everything else, the MSM has for decades picked the side of those most likely to benefit from the scheme and burying all opposing discussion on the subject. Thus when politicians talk of the “settled science” of climate change, what they are actually talking about is the the almost religious-like dogma surrounding the message of climate change. Most politicians also incorrectly conflate regular things like water or air pollution with climate change, when they encounter any resistance to spending vast sums of money to “save the planet”. They are of course two separate issues that have nothing in common, yet you frequently hear politicians talking about who could object to clean air and water in the same sentence as climate change. Again, hoping to drive the hysteria of the ignorant public higher, so costly “solutions” can be passed to supposedly address the issue. By the WEF’s own literature, they state the major first world powers (th G-20 nations) will have to spend $150 trillion dollars between now and 2050 to “save the planet”. An overwhelming majority of that amount is supposed to come from the United States. We currently produce $22 trillion in GDP. So for those with reasonable math skills, that gives you an overall idea how high taxes and the general cost of living In this country will have to rise to fund say 50 to 60 percent of the $150 trillion dollar total associated this financial scheme. This is about making those already very rich extremely rich beyond anyone’s imagination. The greatest redistribution of private wealth from the masses to a select few in world history.
There is vitually no hard science to back up the climate alarmists’ pronouncements on the subject. If there were, the alarmists wouldn’t have had to adjust their “end of the world” dates farther and farther out as each major, global catastrophy fails to occur decade after decade. In the United States, you can trace the beginnings of this movement back to the mid 1880’s to early 1890’s, if you want to see what the early alarmists were predicting about massive global cooling and a new ice age occuring by the early 20th century in the major newspapers of the times. This scheme has been going on for quite some time and gaining momentum as more and more corrupt politicians hop on board what they see as an express train to billions of dollars in personal profit.
Earth’s climate has been in a constant state of change since the planet was originally formed 4 billion years ago. Climate was changing on earth long before mankind existed on this planet and the climate will continue to change when we are no longer inhabiting this planet. Our climate is overwhelmingly governed by solar activity and the sun’s interaction on our planet. There are literally dozens of metrics related to this inaction that drive climatic change over the millenia. I have yet to hear from any politician or so-called “climate activitist” how they intend to tax or regulate or otherwise govern the sun’s natural activities to mitigate what is a completely natural effect on our planet.
The “ostrich with its head buried in the sand” syndrome apparently is alive and well. Yes, there are and have been natural swings in the climate of earth over time. However, today there is the added dimension of mankind and the impact we are having on climate. It is incontrovertible that CO2 levels have been rising directly as a result of burning fossil fuels. It is also incontrovertible that CO2 acts as a greenhouse gas.
The fallacy of the “climate change deniers” is that they fail to separate the natural climate cycles of the earth from the manmade impacts being superimposed over these natural cycles. It is the activity of mankind that is “fueling” (excuse the pun) the rapid climate change we are experiencing today. Their continuing denial will only serve to impede any meaningful course correction mankind must do in order to mitigate extreme climate change that is here now and on our horizon.
The evidence is already here and visible to everyone. Hurricanes and monsoons are becoming more intense, glaciers and ice caps are melting at an accelerated rate, and the Antarctic ice sheet is also melting and calving off large chunks of ice into the ocean, all due to rising temperatures. The ocean is becoming more acidic due to increased CO2 absorption, killing off coral reefs and adversely affecting fish populations. There are more intense floods and droughts throughout the world today than just a few years ago. We should expect such climate dislocations to become worse over time.
Every year for as long as I can remember summer has come. Same with winter, spring, and fall.
Yes climate change is coming and yes we did help speed it up , but there is no way in hell we can stop it with all the hardships that have been placed on people now ,, most of the world dosent even want to try so why are the people of Europe and America forced to suffer for it
& none drive, own EVs or use homes as models for Eco etc Zero
the fact is man made global warming has been disproved 7 times in the last 50 years.
the man made global warming cultists just view it as their religion and the democrats view it as a great way to tax more, bribe more, and make money off corruption.
if you really want to know about climate drivers go research the milankovitch cycles, the amount of gases the earth natural produces and the impact wild fires and volcanoes have on climate. those things account for 99.95% of climate.
Clikate Change is something to many people to make money . Get your all weather suite here. LOL LOL
Dosn’t make any difference what the problem is, call in the experts. If they areso good, why are we having prohlems in the first place. ?? Kyle L.
Patrick Moore has played this reporter for a fool:
“Look at it this way: More than 600 coal-fired electric plants in the United States
produce 36 percent of U.S. emissions — or nearly 10 percent of global emissions — of
CO2, the primary greenhouse gas responsible for climate change.”

“….nuclear energy may just be the energy source that can save our planet
from another possible disaster: catastrophic climate change.”

“When I attended the Kyoto climate meeting in Montreal last December, I spoke to a packed
house on the question of a sustainable energy future. I argued that the only way to reduce
fossil fuel emissions from electrical production is through an aggressive program of
renewable energy sources (hydroelectric, geothermal heat pumps, wind, etc.) plus nuclear.”

“Dr. Patrick Moore Just Misled Congress,” David Appell, 2/25/14
davidappell.blogspot.com/2014/02/dr-patrick-moore-just-misled-congress.html
The real question here is why doesn’t the reporter here, AMAC, John Grimaldi, care about the truth?
He has chosen to be a sycophant. For money. What is lower than such a creature?
John?
Plimoth rock was at sea level in1620, In 2022 it is still at sea level, No change in over 400 years.
Because it has never occurred. Man is incapable of affecting world climate. It’s as simple as that.
“climate change” is an ‘act of God’. Only God can perform ‘acts of God’.
Pray for an ‘end to climate change’, then vote for an end to abortion.
Nooooo, tell me it’s not true! Man didn’t destroy the climate? OK, I already knew that. Why? Because GOD created this climate and the whole world. Only HE can destroy it. Unless those who believe in all this believe THEY are God. And for all those who still think climate change is real, (follow the money) you better hope and pray that there is never a world nuclear war because then the climate will really change and your efforts to put it back together again will be much harder.
Excellent article to help open the eyes of people who have not been searching widely.
Climate change, of course, the climate is changing – why? When I hear it’s the worst weather since 1992 that tells me this happened before. So what does man have to do with it and what can man do about it? We can go to Mars, run around on the moon but we don’t seem to have any real knowledge of the weather or how to control it or even influence it a little. We can move the trajectory of asteroids, but we can’t move a hurricane or tornado even a few miles from a populated area or over a wild fire area. So maybe we should put some of our money into something that can actually help us for a change. Maybe we can change the weather. The climate is still probably a little beyond our grasp but I think we are doing our best to screw it up. It wouldn’t hurt to back off of a few things and green up the planted a little.
Once upon a time, I supported Greenpeace even though I did not always agree with their tactics. Patrick Moore is correct that such organizations did force polluting corporations to stop being irresponsible, until Progressives took over.
