Criminalizing Election Integrity? No!

In short, democracy and our republic depend on the clarity of thought, length of vision backward and forward – and the courage to defend what we know is right when challenged by the left.

Where does “cancel culture” – curbing protected free speech – go from here? “Looking around corners,” we may be getting a hint. Watch closely. If those in power cannot ignore overtalk, delegitimize, dimmish, block, mock, or intimidate conservatives, what’s next? Criminalize them.

Like Biden calling parents “domestic terrorists” for opposing CRT, biology, transgender bathrooms, and dumbed-down math, Democrats appear to be testing the waters – criminalizing opponents is next.

History tells us, the Soviet monster Joe Stalin – like all communists, fascists, theocrats, and autocrats – started in a similar way. Criminalizing your opponents for being your opponents is, in a word, criminal.

So, what is happening? A leading Democrat state governor, Governor Inslee of Washington State, has decided that “elected officials and candidates who lie about election results could face gross misdemeanor or jail time,” that is his plan, way of silencing critics, blunting election integrity dialogue. See, e.g., Washington Democratic Gov. Inslee wants to make lying a crime in certain circumstances.

In what Orwellian world is free speech held hostage – about something as naturally controversial, obviously important, fundamental to the republic, as fair elections, assessing results, talking on them?

If there is one issue that should be an instant “matter of public concern,” resulting in constitutional protection, based on countless cases, it is our electoral process, the way it is done, outcomes averred.

The notion that objections to elections – based on heartfelt concerns, observations, allegations, inferences, and facts collected – are somehow criminal is just this side of what happened in Russia in 1917, Germany in the 1930s, China today, frankly dozens of crooked countries around the world.

No, criminalizing claims of electoral victory, accusations of defeat, asking for recounts, audits, and time records, skeptically examining and reexamining outcomes, insisting on integrity of for voters and voting, official personnel and machines, security in ballot creation, distribution, collection, tallies, final certifications, is not criminal – and never should be.

We are scientific in the way we create, preserve, and assure outcomes in important sectors, aviation and rocketry, medicine and architecture, engineering to skyscraper construction, radiation measurement to weather modeling, accounting, and transportation to protect from accidents storms, and sun.

We are scientific, methodical, integrity-centered, even preoccupied with accuracy to endless thousandths in countless areas, in some cases down to parts per billion, and we know that is right. Why -in the public sector – would we not be equally concerned about our elections, and for that reason, allow the marketplace of ideas, as the Supreme Court called it, to thrive around them?

The only reason to shut down talk about elections is political chicanery, a combination of short-sightedness, anger or pique, and indifference to assuring integrity, in a word, corruption. Any move in that direction begins to blunt, distort, restrict, and clandestinely control electoral outcomes.

This is the exact reason that such a movement must stop right here. To criminalize electoral claims, cross-claims, and to shut down public discussion around the heart of democracy, the lifeblood of a republic – elections and their legitimacy – is to invite intimidation, autocracy, and one-party rule.

All this is not America, and we may pray never will be. The idea that is canceling opponents by non-coverage, throwing them off social media, disparaging rights, disinviting, villainizing, and rioting is right – is wrong. The notion that someone would notch things up, criminalizing free speech, is utterly wrong.

So, what does this peek around one important corner mean? A back glance at history and forward thought about the dark possibilities mean? What should the lesson be when someone suggests a way to criminalize an objection to an election?

The answer is simple:  No! No to shutting down speech, no to shutting off controversy, no to redefining democracy, no to demonizing critics, no to jamming those seeking answers, no to public officials who want to use their power – to shut off yours.

In short, democracy and our republic depend on the clarity of thought, length of vision backward and forward – and the courage to defend what we know is right when challenged by the left. This is not complex, not even particularly a matter of law. It is a matter of fairness, honesty, and integrity.

When politics and civil dialogue erode and we are left with power grabs and rule by federal mandate, unrepentant street violence, overreach by those in power, coercion of the process – especially the process by which we would contest an election, count on one thing: We are off track.

Let us lean into the wind, defend our freedoms – especially free speech – and not bow to the storm, which aims to take power from the people, concentrate, alienate, intimidate, and criminalize. All that is unfit for representative democracy – which gave the world representative democracy, America.

RBC,

This is nothing more than the Democrats seeking a means to ensure they never lose any federal election ever again, now that they have control of the WH, Congress and have mostly neutralized the Supreme Court. They have NO intention of allowing the American people to repeat what they did to them starting in the 2010 midterms, when enough people saw what the Democrats were really all about and began the process of removing Democrats from control of Congress and eventually also the Presidency. So the Democrat solution to that problem is to change the rules around voting to a degree that effectively eliminates the voice of the people, the vote, as a means to effect change. Thus ensuring the outcome will always be the Democrats hold a lock on power in both the WH and Congress to enact whatever “transformative changes” (sociallist policies to achieve the desired end goal) they see fit without any potential interference from the public at the ballot box.

There really is no need to over think it and talk about civil dialogue and the rest of the historical issues, as the Democrats are generally completely uninterested in any of that. To them, all that matters is attaining and maintaining power indefinitely by any means necessary. Why do you think they keep sneaking the language of H.R.1 / S.R.1 into virtually every bill they draft? It was even in the so-called bi-partisan infrastructure bill until some Republican members of Congress threatened to withhold their support of that disasterous bill until the language was stricken from the final bill.

What most Republicans in Washington need to do is talk plainly to the American people and explain the end goal of the Democrat Party, rather than being bogged down in trying to be politically correct and dancing around the issue to the point of most of them coming off as nearly incoherent. Yes I know many establishment Republicans still foolishly think if they are politically correct enough and vague enough in how they speak, they will get members of the Democrat Party to like them and some Democrat voters to maybe even vote for them. However, that is the same dysfuntional thinking that has been proven wrong time and time again. Time for the Republican Party to show a spine and have an honest and frank discussion about the real truth behind all the Democrat initiatives being pushed by the Democrat Party and the mainstream media.

As much as you may dislike Trump for some of his tweets and direct manner, the laid out the reality of most issues clearly for the American people to understand they responded by supporting him in overwhelming numbers for four years. So there is value in being up-front and honest with the American people concerning the motives of the Democrat Party. The alternative is to continue on the present course of dancing around all these Democrat objectives and hoping that two Democrat Senators don’t cave to their Party before the midterms. That’s a real iffy proposition to bet the future of a country on.

You won’t read these facts (truths), posted on AARP’s website; however, somehow the facts have to reach their readers so, they finally get exposed to these (truths). AARP readers are still accepting the big Biden lie. After all, these facts would mean they were wrong! Suck it up buttercup! During the 2020 campaign, the now NMP Biden said to the to the American people, ” You can’t confuse facts with truth!” Yet, AARP and their readers donated and voted for NMP Biden, which is a fact and the truth! Biden’s handlers realized early on that they had to lay out a smoke screen, thick enough, to cover up his total lack of ethics and personal flaws like his disdain for others, (“Your not black if you don’t vote for me.”) and his blatant dishonesty, like the business dealings with and for his son in the Ukraine and his family dealings in China. You really don’t believe the water color paintings sold by Hunter Biden have a commerical value of hundreds of thousands of dollar do you? These personal flaws were ignored by the media and ended up allowing him to be the selected as the canadate for the DNC, the new elitist and radically socialist party, in the 2020 election. Stalin once said something he knew about voting, it’s not how many votes are cast, it’s who does the counting. Scary huh? That’s NMP Bidens truth and if it wasn’t the truth why hasn’t he and his handlers answered these questions with facts. Reach out to your local represenatives, state and federal and ask them to give you some facts on some of these issues. You know what you will get, smoke; however, if enough people reach out these represenatives might pick up on the need for facts and truth or they may not have a job next year.

Call your Senators and tell them you do not support the phony Voter Rights Act (that just passed the House). Do not get rid of the Filibuster. ID’s are required for many things and absolutely must be required for voting to protect the integrity of our elections. Tax dollars should not be used in a 6-1 match for candidates. If I choose to support a candidate, that is my personal choice, not the government’s.

I live in Washington State where voter fraud through mail in ballet voting is prevalent in the five western democrat counties making up the majority of the population in the state. Thousands of illegal non-citizens are registered to vote in Washington State. The result is the democrat progressive socialist run the state and large cities like Seattle.

Hmmm. Less than 22 years ago, Florida was counting hanging chads for Al Gore — the Democrat presidential candidate. Many Democrats never did accept that there hadn’t been some cheating done in Florida to let Bush win. In the end, urged by the Democrats, the Florida Supreme Court violated the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment by calling for a recount that led to many jokes about ‘hanging chads.’ Bush wasn’t declared the winner until mid-December 2000. Belief in ‘fair’ elections began to fall away until 2021 when Republicans challenged the election results, not conceding until January 6. Was the 2020 election fair and honest? Who knows. Election integrity is important and we do need to tighten up who votes, how votes are collected and when to stop counting. Other countries have already done so.

“Taxation without representation.” To think Democracy is supposed to protect tax payers! Giving them a voice to direct their investments to programs that are beneficial to them.

I am sick and tired of the January 6 “insurrection”. The insurrection is going on right now and has been since the Great Bafoon was sworn in. We have a corrupt government clear and simple and nothing is being done to protect and defend our Constitution. I believe even if Repubs take control, this government is so rotten at the core it will make little difference. Toss everyone out, clean house and start over.

Whenever the TRUTH is told, DIMMs can only win in a handful of states. Unfortunately, CA, NY, and IL are all infected by massive voter fraud! The people would have to vote 70% for GOP to overcome all the fraudulent votes from LA, Chitown, and NYC.

Remember the Carter-Baker Commission on Federal Election Reform in 2005?? Bipartisan as former President Carter the Democrat and former Secretary of State James Baker the Republican headed this project. The commission addressed voter ID, absentee ballot abuse, poor voter registration records that were not kept clean, and numerous other issues. These are all issues that are being squashed today. The pressure to change has been so great that President Carter recently disavowed his former stance. This administration and the idiots in congress want to move the country to a place that many countries around the world have since abandoned as far as Election Integrity. The foreign countries have embraced Integrity and we now want to abandon it.
THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT A VAST MAJORITY OF THE VOTING PUBLIC HAS NO ISSUES WITH IDs ETC. LET OUR POLITICIANS KNOW WHAT YOU WANT. DON’T ALLOW THEM TO TELL YOU WHAT YOU WANT.

Reps……you better not shy away from this idiocy going on. Get out there and start talking. We can play the same game as these commies are playing. Think I have lost some friends because I believe in Donald Trump, but I do not give a rat’s a–. If they choose to be idiots, I have no time for them.
