Yellow paper vaccine cards have been required for some international travel for decades, but a new digital concept called a “vaccine passport” is making news. Check all with which you agree.

Vaccine passports are appropriate for cross border, but not domestic, travel to get global business and tourism moving. Countries have a right to know the Covid-19 status of those they admit.

Federal and state governments already have information on us (Social Security, Medicare, birth certificates, voter registration etc.), so this is yet another piece of information.

There are some equity and privacy issues with this concept, as digitized health records could be compromised and/or people may be asked about other viruses or infections they have or have had.

Under zero circumstances should any U.S. citizen ever be required to show a vaccine card or prove their immunization status to participate in domestic activities like sporting events, concerts, or interstate travel.
