Unmasking Palinphobia

Jedediah Bila

By Jedediah Bila, Author and Political Commentator

The left continues to be obsessed with Sarah Palin’s every peep, sneeze, and stride.  Despite the fact that it has been over a year since the 2008 Presidential Election, Palinphobia remains fiercely intact, no doubt fueled by the release of Going Rogue and sure to be sustained by Palin’s decision to join the Fox News team.  The question is why, and the common response that she’s a conservative woman, and hence guaranteed to be routinely in the line of fire, is unsatisfactory to the American voter.  And it should be.

Of course Palin’s commitment to the pro-life movement will forever imprint a scarlet letter on her chest in the minds of the pro-abortion National Organization for Women and its wide-eyed followers, despite the true origin of the feminist movement and Palin’s alignment with it.  But the reality is that there is something unique and remarkably threatening about Sarah Palin that places her in a league of her own.  Despite her media and fan-bestowed celebrity status, Palin is, at her core, an everyday American.  She’s a proud hockey mom who acknowledges her mistakes and imperfections.  She pledges allegiance to our flag and her faith.  She isn’t worried about not having a pretentious Ivy League degree.  She doesn’t come from affluence or bear a prestigious family name.  And if she skins her knees beating the boys in a basketball game, she’ll likely do a quick victory lap and treat them to dinner at the Palin house.  A woman who doesn’t feel victimized by the boys?  There’s another strike against her from the feminist left.

The fact that Palin doesn’t view herself as a political celebrity or a star in the Republican Party makes her allure all the richer.  It’s like a Valedictorian who doesn’t think she’s particularly smart or a handsome gentleman who doesn’t own a mirror, each becoming infinitely more appealing as a result of their humility.  The truth is that Palin has become a star by virtue of being just like you and me.  And the elitists, particularly academics on the left, are heated.  They want their politicians snooty, want the lofty intellectualism they believe themselves to possess mirrored back at them by the big words and fancy slogans of their elected officials.  They want their pomp and circumstance, a perfect side dish to the hollow rhetoric of their holier-than-thou leaders.  For those elitists, Palin’s substance just isn’t going to cut it.  And aggravating them all the more is the fact that she couldn’t care less.

Make no mistake that Palinphobia will continue to breed and thrive in the months to come.  There will be a host of insecure retaliations to both the monumental success of her book and the rise of the conservative ideology she represents.  However, Palin’s down-to-earth speech, love of country, and empathy for the challenges of the average American family will continue to inspire America’s patriots.

P.S.–Keep an eye on those patriots as they go rogue in the 2010 and 2012 elections.

She keeps getting gesonrtr, with that ‘come in out of the rain” common sense and non-snarky sarcasm. She has a style of her own that’s refreshing

Oh, this one made me laugh SO hard that it HURT!However, my response is this: I serecnily doubt that she HAS a tree stump IN her back yard! For all her chatter about being down to earth, if you look at her and her husband’s incomes, their house, etc., she lives quite well-to-do.

The doctor may not nrcessaeily be your problem. When you call a doctor’s office, you are speaking to people that work in that office and take messages. There are multiple levels of personnel that have different jobs and responsibilities. As to your blood test are you even sure the doctor was made aware of it. Doctor’s are not the one that pick up all the printed lab sheets and then place them in the appropriate patients charts. Someone else is paid to do that and is responsible for calling it to the doctor’s attention when something is abnormal. That is just an example. There are plenty of docs with terrible staff. I am having a whopper time with one office staff now myself. But ..all excuses aside, if blood work was ordered to check for infection and that blood work returned a positive for infection then that doc is responsible to… Read more »

I will never regret iovtng for Obama over the McFailin’ ticket, but I do now regret vocally supporting Obama over Hillary. I may have disagreed just as much with everything she would have done, but at least she didn’t lie about it in her campaign.I knew it was over pretty early on when Obama derided his own “Yes We Can” slogan, saying it was his wife’s “corny” idea. The Nobel Peace Prize makes me sick. How many military operations are we into now….I lost count. He has put the nail in the coffin of party politics or me- that much is good. I left his party and will never join one again, nor will I ever be swayed again to vote for someone so another person won’t win. Clearly this gets us no where. Anyone else who wants my vote will have to come and get it by having a platform I… Read more »

I say Sarah Palin in 2012! A great running mate for her would be Sen. Michele Bachmann(R-Mars)

Washington is in a real mess. The first thing we, as the voting public, need to do is clean house. We can do this by NOT voting for any incumbent Senators and Representatives that have been in office for more than 1 term. The Congress and the House of Representatives was never meant to be a lifetime career. The seats should be limited to 2 terms, like the President, and should be changed every 2 elections. If the leader of our country cannot run for more than 2 terms, how ridiculous is it that the rest of those on the hill can? Those who have been in power for years have lost touch with just why they were sent to Washington in the first place. They are out of touch with the common man and woman, the very ones they are supposed to represent. Remember how they reacted when the… Read more »

Sarah Palin is such a breath of fresh air, I wish we would elect 546 more people just like her in the next few elections. Our politicians are supposed to be ordinary people. Whether they can spell or not is not nearly as important to me as honesty and truthfulness. Which way too many of our current officials seem to have forgotten. I like her daring and caring for the American people. People who don’t like her have a real problem. Honesty and integrity should come way before a cute suit and a great speech, which is all we have now in a pres who could care less for the majority of Americans. Or what we think…

A WOMAN ABLE TO HOLD HER OWN IN A ROOMFUL OF MEN!!!!
TOO BAD THAT MCCAIN CHOOSES TO BE A WIMPPY-GOODIE-TWO- SHOES -POLITICALLY-CORRECT- RHINO……….AGAIN TRYING TO USE SARAH PALIN IN HIS PRESENT
CAMPAIGN…….IN WHICH HE IS ACTING LKE A TOTAL DEMOCRAT!

Marian R. needs an attitude adjustment as she is blatantly jealous of Sarah and the lovely Jedediah. She probably has an esteem problem but thank you, Jedediah, for speaking the truth. Some people can only complain and talk about typos by others. They have a problem. Indeed liberals only believe liberals and revisionist history. The Bill of Rights actually says we have freedom of religion not the opposite just as Jefferson did and wanted to protect the church, not the “state.” Our Right is to the “free exercise” of religion. Check it out.

I have watched interviews with Sarah Palin and I do not believe that she studied History very much in school. This could be from the fact that for the last 10 – 15 years there has been a definite decision to not teach that subject in favor of “The Basics.”
“Those who fail to study History are destined to repeat it.” Our progressive (Liberal) friends will do well to go back to school and study what the Constitution contains. Otherwise, “We Will Remember In November.”

I’m neither liberal nor conserative…somewhere inbetween. There is NO way I would ever vote for Palin…I don’t trust her! Just too many questions about her different actions. And from what I have seen…the liberals are just making fun of how uneducated she is when asked specific questions!

We have a few things in common! I voted for Mcain and I was in the Navy in 1968. I cleaned your teeth if you had port in Long Beach, CA. I love being around the fly guys and learning about the planes and was able to get rides on a few bombers and play radio Girl. The best was being able to fly an Army helicoptor, then I did two years inactive with the Army. I would like to know how I miss used God’s word. I state it would be great if we could work at finding common ground and work together at making this country the best it can be. I think calling people names that do not agree with us is not how to win people in to a conversation or is anywhere in God’s word. I do love the earth and all God has made… Read more »

Marian Rubchak’s comments are a perfect example of a “lefty” not getting it. It’s the message that’s important. Marian, you are just another elitist that can’t tolerate the common individual. Get with the program and try to understand the message.

I get so disguested when people like kevin novak say Sarah is not qualified and is a quiter! Then this Kate loves wolves. I have seen a wolf pack tear a calf to sherads while it was still alive. Kate invokes God’s word inaccurately as do most who’s REAL religion is earth and enviroment. Marian’s criticism was not meant to be “constructrive” Leonard! it is a TYPICAL radical response when you lack a logical common sense mind. Personal degrading attacks come right out of Obma’s chief of staff’s playbook circulated when he was a congressman. I am a former Navy carrier pilot with over 100 missions into North Vietnam and was a replacement pilot for John Mcain and several others. It makes me angry to hear the liberal press make comments about how dumb he is..Research studies concluded that less than 5% of Americans could sucessfully make it threw the… Read more »

I also love Sarah, but I do not understand how she could allow the shoting of wolves.

Are we backed by God’s teaching? I’m ready to see less teaching and more practice of God’s word. We can start here by not calling people names, but use this site to reach out to each other. Let unit the county and not provide the fuel to burn each other.

Sarah Palin brings a breath of fresh air into our national politics. She is not a part of the ‘good ole boy system’ and that appears to drive them crazy. She believes in family and is proud to be a lady, a mom, and an American with a positive outlook. The total package in my opinion.

Sara? She’s the one who quit he job as Governor. What a joks. She not only is not qualified by education and experience but can you imagine how she would stand up against our enemies. She simple doesn’t have the depth for the job.

On the election, cograts to the winner…I think this is alot more than discord about health care, obviously its at the forefront ,but I think it’s an accumulation of the policies of the entire year that has told people( particularly the indepens.) that this bunch only told them what they wanted to hear and never had any intentions of keeping those promises. That they decided to ignor what the people wanted and tried to ram their agenda thru w/ muscle,60 votes. However,as usual, they’re out of touch w/ what most Americans want and now they’re going to pay, Tony
