Q & A with Jedediah: Senate Races, GOP Strategy, Meghan McCain, Reading List, and 9/11

  • What’s your take on the Senate races overall? – Ronald; Florida

I’m looking forward to solid conservative victories. We need more leaders like Alaska’s Joe Miller and Florida’s Marco Rubio.

I think the rise of so many conservative candidates who often haven’t had the backing of the establishment – but have had the support of American voters – is indicative of a genuine conservative grassroots uprising that will speak loudly and clearly this November.

  • Why are Republicans not attacking Democrats on every aspect, especially with the midterms coming up and it appearing the Republicans will win big? – Jeff; Texas

I think that depends on what Republicans you’re talking about.

I see plenty of GOP conservatives calling out Democrats when it comes to the economy, national security, immigration, and other key issues. Jim DeMint and Paul Ryan have had quite a bit to say. 2010 contenders like Marco Rubio, Sharron Angle, and Joe Miller have persistently drawn clear distinctions between themselves and their big-government opponents. Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich have been leading national voices in setting the record straight on the Obama agenda.

Of course, there are many Republicans who haven’t been so quick to criticize Democrats. Many of them fall into the RINO category, and their world view is hence quite similar to that of a Democrat. See Lisa Murkowski, Olympia Snowe, and Susan Collins for details.

As we’ve seen time and again, it’s not Republicans we can necessarily count on. It’s conservatives.

  • Have you read Meghan McCain’s new book? She slams Sarah Palin quite a bit. – Sue; New York

I haven’t read it. But that’s only because I have some really pressing things to spend the $14 on right now. Like a toy water gun. Or a yo-yo. Or an eight-pack of gum.

  • Other than Human Events and The Daily Caller, which online sites or publications do you really like? – Mike; Florida

I read several in addition to the two mentioned above, including National Review Online, The American Spectator, FOXNews.com, American Thinker, Breitbart’s Big Government, Drudge Report, NewsBusters.org, and others. Conservatives4Palin.com is the place to go – in my opinion – for up-to-date, comprehensive information on Sarah Palin.

I primarily follow writers, not publications. I love independent-minded thinkers who aren’t afraid to call it like they see it. Dan Riehl of Riehl World View is a great example.

I like to read work by Michelle Malkin, Thomas Sowell, Charles Krauthammer, Rich Lowry, Deroy Murdock, and Mark Steyn. And there are others.

For entertainment value from the Left, I visit The Huffington Post, Salon.com, and read Mike Lupica’s political commentary. Oh, and The New York Times, but that’s a given.

  • Did you attend any of the 9/11 rallies? – Joann; California

I didn’t. I was very close to the September 11, 2001 NYC terrorist attack, less than 500 feet from the South Tower when it was hit. I feel incredibly lucky to have missed a memo that would have cost me my life.

I’ve done the same thing every September 11th since then. I say a prayer in the morning between 8:45 and 9:05 a.m., the time during which our towers were hit. In the evening, I make a trip to Ground Zero and say two prayers – one for the innocent Americans who lost their lives that day and one for the future of our country.

I commend all Americans who make it a point every September 11 – in whatever way, shape, or form they choose – to honor the fallen and to never forget the tragedy we endured that day.

I also believe it’s incredibly important to rally behind leaders who will do the best they can to see to it that no attacks like those suffered on 9/11/01 will ever happen again.

I am not aware of any such insurance.Alot of toanitirdal major medical plans have exclusions for fertility treatments. You might look into a mini-med/indemnity plan/modified health plan where they pay preset amounts for certain medical costs. They will not provide a lot of benefits but you will at least have some coverage.Discount cards do not typically provide as much coverage as major medical plans. IN every case I have seen toanitirdal insurance coverage is better.Just make sure you read the plan document and view the exclusions before purchasing coverage.

We could never lock all the crooks up in DC, but the best thing we can do is vote them out and hope they go home. They have been up there for years and have had to account to nobody. It was really be ugly if they had the IRS check on everyone of them. Threaten them, put liens on their properties, threaten to auction their belongings. No, we just have to vote them out and that is all we will get.

I think that Barney Frank and close associates should be in jail for what they did for Fanny May and Freddy Mac.

Do you think Newt Gingrich is aligned with conservative government or just a shill for the status quo called the two-party ping-pong game? His associations with the CFR, Bohemian Grove and the Alfalfa Club seem highly suspicious.

One of the good things that has happened over the last 2 years is that the wheat has been separated from the chaff. And, I’m not just referring to the Democrats and their agenda. It appears that the Republican “machine” has been taken over by people who too easily go along with the liberal agenda. It feels like my Party has been infiltrated.

One should keep in mind that conservatives need not agree on every issue. Because you may disagree on one issue or concept does not make you a RINO. Simply agreeing withe the majority of conservative values enables one to be a concerned patriot.

The voters who reelected Charlie Rangel are of like mind. You know the old saying that “Birds of a Feather Stick Together.”

I consider myself as an independent. I did not vote for McCain, I voted for Ron Paul…I guess that makes me a Liberterian? I agree with the idea that it’s not just the left wing Dems that have a problem but many of the mousy Republicans as well. I also agree that it’s conservatism that must make a comeback. Even tho I think the age old statement: “when in doubt, vote ’em out” is a good way to clean house I will probably vote in Nov for incumbent and non-incumbent Republicans with a conservative view rather than anyone else.

JUAN MCCAIN HAS BEEN SENATOR FOR 28 YEARS AND HAS NEVER DONE ANYTHING ABOUT THE BORDER. HE HAS VOTED AGAINST THE FENCE, VOTE “FOR” OUR SS FUND FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS AND HELPED TED KENNEDY CREATE 2 AMNESTIES (“I never said I wanted amnesty” – pants on fire). PALIN SUPPORTS MCCAIN. IN OUR BOOK, SHE IS A PURE RINO. When they infiltrate the Tea party watch out!

Good for you, girl! I couldn’t bear to read/listen to aorynme of the dramatized “controversy” about Obama’s speech. It was disheartening, and downright embarassing. The only thing I would remove from your post is your line: “I hope I didn’t offend too many.” Don’t apologize, never apologize, for stating YOUR informed views on YOUR blog. And then you will truly turn away from being a people pleaser.

It’s a shame that Meghan McCain feels the way she does about Sarah Palin, the Governor made the last Presidential race closer; and did a great job setting up Senator McCain’s appearances.

Charlie Rangel should be ashamed of himself and the voters in his district should lower their heads in shame as well. Fox’s headline ” Embattled Rep. Rangel Prevails in N.Y. Despite Ethics Charges just reaffirms to me that liberalism is truly a disease as one Fox Radio Talk Show Host has said over and over. I believe it now. Certainly, he wont prevail in November. Or, will he? The mainstream media is so far gone and Obama backing this fool is digging a deeper hole for his 2012 possible bid. Tonight’s primaries , however, proved to be quite the upset in Delaware with O’Donnell winning all the other GOP wins. Rangel, Reid, Pelosi and the presiding incumbency must go in November especially the DEMS. Thanks to The Tea Party movement (and it truly is a movement to be reckoned with) in 2012 along with Sarah Palin’s endorsements have pushed us… Read more »
