I have an Annunity with the Knights of Columbus, and was surprised for their years of chargeing me if I take out my money. Their rate of interest Income is less that 2.0%. I have been with them for one full year. I need better rates of return.

    • Tom Stephens says:

Jim – I would like to be clear about a couple of things – how old are you, what type of annuity do you have (ie: fixed or variable); and are you saying that their guaranteed interest rate is 2% during accumulation, or will you only be able to receive a 2% (of principal) income benefit when you start receiving a lifetime income? It seems like this is one of the reasons that annuities have such a bad reputation, yet for a guaranteed lifetime income (guaranteed by the claims paying ability of the issuing insurer) the right annuity can be one of the best ways to create an income that you (and spouse) cannot outlive. If you can provide more info I may be able to offer more advice.
