Dems Backpedal on Removing God from Platform

Amid public outcry and crticism from Republicans, Democrats hurriedly rewrote their convention platform Wednesday to add a mention of God and declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel.

The embarrassing reversal was compounded by chaos and uncertainty on the convention floor. Three times Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the convention chairman, called for a voice vote on the changes and each time the yes and no votes seemed to balance each other out. On the third attempt, Villaraigosa ruled the amendments were approved — triggering boos from many in the audience.

Obama intervened directly to get the language changed both on Jerusalem and to reinstate God in the platform, according to campaign officials who insisted on anonymity to describe behind-the-scenes party negotiations. They said Obama’s reaction to the omission of God from the platform was to wonder why it was removed in the first place.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., the party chairman, said both the God and Jerusalem omissions were “essentially a technical oversight.” She insisted in a CNN interview there had been no discord on the floor and said the vote definitely met the two-thirds threshold.

The revisions came as Obama struggles to win support from white working-class voters, many of whom have strong religious beliefs, and as Republicans try to woo Jewish voters and contributors away from the Democratic Party. Republicans claimed the platform omissions suggested Obama was weak in his defense of Israel and out of touch with mainstream Americans.

It did not surprise me the Democrat elite tried to push this new platform changes since they are so far to the left that they are almost non-American. And if you think Obama did not know about all of this you are wrong. He is the one that will be standing on that platform for reelection. But there is more than even than taking God out which is the worst thing possible, but also there is promotion for Gay Marriage, Taxpayer funded Abortion (whether we like it or not), changing the recognized capital of Jerusalem, and supporting the use of Sharia law in American courts. If you are a Christian and you vote for Obama, whether you believe it or not, you ARE supporting these ideas and giving them your OK.

I was excited to hear about that vote because: what could be more out there about people’s true feelings of unAmericanism? People shut their ears and eyes and want to bury their heads and let the other guy take responsibility. Recently a guest in our home told us, he thinks that probably ‘both candidates are ‘good men’. Neither one beats their wives right? That does not make someone a good PRESIDENT! Our current and hopefully ‘lame duck’ Pres is unAmerican. Even if you don’t believe everything you hear, people need to see where his actions have caused more harm then good. We already are witnessing the wrath of God in this country. Men’s hearts are truly failing them. We are giving up and want to move to an island somewhere so we don’t need to live through all these stripped Rights. Young people don’t want to vote because they don’t… Read more »

I will never belong to a party that rejects our lord. They have a lot of explaining to do when they meet their maker. I’m not perfect, and God is all forgiving…but I’d hate to think about how I would explain this one some day.

God will not be mocked. I tremble at the thought of what His revenge might be.

Oh sure “both the God and Jerusalem omissions were “essentially a technical oversight.” ” Give me a break. You really expect us to believe it was an oversight NOT

The article said the yeas and nays balanced each other out but to my ears the nays clearly had it. God was denied three times. Sound familliar? Soon they will go out and weep bitterly for denying their God but it won’t be out of any feelings of guilt. It will be because their and Aboma’s denial has cost them the election.

I want to finish my thguoht here. If God treated us fairly Jesus would have never died on the cross. and we would have never been offered salvation. I praise God that He loves me, He never fails me and He goes to plan B and on. Look ho w He blessed Israel, they sinned and went away from God countless times, but He was faithful and loved them any way. Romans 5:8 But God commended His love toward us, in that while we were sinners Christ died for us. Praise be to God!

It’s so sad to hear supposedly intelligent people make excuses to justify removing God from their platform.
