AMAC: Seniors Say Government Spending is Leading Us Down the Road to Perdition

We need our government to stop spending our hard earned money like a bunch of drunken sailors –

BOHMEIA, NY, Nov 30 – Seniors are riled at the “claptrap” they are getting from our president and from our Congress about the financial future of the nation, according to Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens. AMAC is the conservative alternative to AARP.

“In a poll of our members, they shouted loud and clear that it’s not the taxes, stupid!  It’s the spending that is leading us down the road to perdition.”

As the number of respondents in the AMAC poll continued to climb toward the 9,000 mark, the vast majority of those surveyed – as many as 90% of them – said they want to see Federal spending cut in all departments of government and they want to see the Bush tax cuts continued.

“Isn’t it about time that our lawmakers began listening to their older and wiser constituents,” Weber quipped, noting that ideological arguments won’t save the day as the nation speeds headlong over the fiscal cliff.

“By concentrating on the creation of a brave new, socialist world, the administration has shown a blatant disregard for the fate of the 99% in 2013 and beyond.  Whether or not President Obama succeeds in ultimately raising taxes on the 1% is of no consequence to the rest of us.  We need our government to do the right thing; namely, we need our government to stop spending our hard earned money like a bunch of drunken sailors.”

The AMAC chief said he was appalled at the indifference the administration has shown to the need to ensure Social Security and Medicare remain solvent for current and future retirees.  “Instead, we get harangued with ‘talking points’ about the need to raise taxes on the rich, as if the additional income it would produce is enough to make a difference.  After all, it will only give the government that much more money to spend.  And, that’s the problem.”

Weber said the Federal government is overrun with “spendthrift” czars and administrators who have used and will continue to use new tax revenue with virtually no accountability.

“Think Solyndra, the GSA house party scandal and the hundreds of earmark projects that have nickeled and dimed us over the years—particularly the past four years.  A hundred million here, a hundred million there and pretty soon you’re talking about real money, to paraphrase the late Senator Everett Dirksen.”

ABOUT AMAC

The Association of Mature American Citizens [http://www.amac.us] is a vibrant, vital and conservative alternative to those organizations, such as AARP, that dominate the choices for mature Americans who want a say in the future of the nation.  Where those other organizations may boast of their power to set the agendas for their memberships, AMAC takes its marching orders from its members.  We act and speak on their behalf, protecting their interests, and offering a conservative insight on how to best solve the problems they face today.

The finest example of waisting money would be the presidential families constant need for separate vacations for the whole family 5 or 6 times a year.

I am so fed up with the phrase “spening like a drunk sailor”! First of all, I am former sailor and I did not have the money to
spend like Nancy Pelosi or any of the other liberals.

I believe what we have to do, in lieu of all the righteous indignation, which is warranted no doubt, is do what the Democratic Party has done from day one of 2008 ; however, without the racists tactics. They CONTINUED with their local groups to register and spread the divisive racists blather and solidified the vote for 2011 with voters who were not well informed. We need to suck it up and get busy determining a titular leader, i.e., the Tea Party organizers, to get this organized and started NOW. We need to have group leaders who are informed with the facts and can communicate in everyday language to voters what these FACTS are regarding how raised taxes are eventually paid. i. e., they go into the cost of production or services as every other expense of manufacturing or providing services. The taxes end up being paid by the customer/consumer,… Read more »

Obama bad mouths Republicans because “the tax increases will kick in”
For years Reps. Have used the “Bush tax cuts” to avoid the “DEMOCRATIC TAX INCREASES” voted in during the Clinton presidency.
Let’s give the Democrats full credit, this is their doing from the beginning.
Stop using the phrase “Bush tax cuts” let’s focus and find a way to throw attention on “THE DEMOCRATIC TAX INCREASES “!

larry: by the way, what happened to the teaparty that was so evident in the 2010 elections? have they all but disappeared into the woodwork? i have, in the past, attended many of their events, but it becomes harder and harder to find any..if you or anyone knows where they are, i would be very interested in your answer. they were one group that got the republicans out in force and rallied the crowds, which were huge, in 2010.

Now that the election is over, the politicians of both parties feel free to ignore us. We need a peaceful million person march to the nation’s capitol to demonstrate our disgust with them and our concern for our country, and that we are fed up with the way they operate.

Watching what is happening to our great nation is like being frogs swimming in a pot of cool water with the fire already lit under the bottom of the pot and about to boil and kill us all. We are rapidly approaching the day for all sane and intelligent citizens including the 100 million gun owners of America to stand up and say no to this left wing regime currently in the white house before our guns are confiscated by the government. Our founding fathers gave us the right to bear arms for this very reason. When tyrannicals take over our government and force their will on all citizens by executive orders, it is up to us to stand up and say no. If we think current conditions are bad now just wait until our president appoints more liberal left wing judges to the Supreme Court and the court decides… Read more »

Our frustration level is evident. We don’t know how to stop the government from spending our money in foolish ways. Perhaps we need another “Tea Party movement” to urge holding back our tax money. Maybe something in the order of just paying 75% of our tax bill so the government would have to cut spending on nonsense items. If half the populace (those who voted for Romney) held back 25% of their tax assessment the Feds would have a difficult time enforcing the law. Just a thought – butthe more I think about it the more I like it.

We DO ” know how to stop the government from spending our money in foolish ways .” We are just too lazy and/or gutless to force the repeal of the 16th and 17th Amendments . In addition to repealing the 16th and 17th Amendments to defund and restrain the federal aristocracy , we need to push for the adoption of new amendments to limit all all government pay and benefits ; limit the use of the U.S. military to the defense of the United States ; outlaw the spending of Taxpayer money on non-essentials ; establish term limits for all elective offices , and restore the 10th Amendment rights of the States and the People .

Shastastan, you are on target. The race was lost to the “Ignorants”. We lost because a lot of people stayed home and didn’t vote. People have a short memory and go with the flow. The takers outvoted the payers. Al lot of woman voted for Obama because they ere afraid Romney would appoint more conservatives to the Supreme court and overturn Roe vs. Wade. The younger generation is mostly lost. Obama is cool, ethics are out the window and lies, sex, abortions falsehoods, and no accountabilty are the norm today. The Republican party should stick with the facts and tie up congress so nothing gets done, unfortunately they will cave in. So buckle up your seatbelts because will be in for a rough ride. In 2 years Obama will be preparing for his 3rd term, yes just like FDR because he will need one more term to really wreck the… Read more »

The reason a lot of people don’t understand Obama’s position is because they didn’t watch “2016.” The reason that Obama got re-elected is because those who voted for him are stupid as well as those who stayed home and didn’t vote at all. It’s too late to complain now. The worst is yet to come.

Let’s face it. We are now stuck with this extremist progressive liberal fool for a president…for another four years. Yes, I’d like to think we could impeach him and, even try him for treason. There certainly is legal grounds to go after him. But, neither the mainstream media nor the Republican Party – home of the stupid establishment fools will pursue either. So there you have it. We ARE going to get the transformation that this fool spoke of long before he was elected. But what is amazing to me is the level of ignorance in this country that has led us to this catastophe. Even Russia’s Putin noted that Obama was re-elected by an “illiterate electorate”. I live in a retirement community and it appalls me that so many of these folks who lived to witness the horrors of socialism, communism and the like have been so complacent and… Read more »

Want to know why the adults are naive? Ask any 8th grader what they know and understand about The Constitution of the United States of America. Now, ask your subject, “do you understand it?” You then know what they learned in school. It is no accident that kids who are at the very top, you know, Spelling Bee Winners, are often ‘Home Schooled’, very often thier parents are foriegn born. Had to learn the constitution on thier way to citizenship. Heads up, moms and dads, read to your kids, have conversations with them about what is read. I am blessed, the youngest of six children, all eight of us came to the table for our meals, breakfast and dinner. My other blessing, I remember, always having a daily newspaper, everyone of was expected to read that newspaper every day. Current events were discussed at the evening dinner table. I remember… Read more »

Why do the young know so little history? Simple. It’s not taught anymore in public schools or colleges. At least not REAL history. What is taught now is “social studies” and revisionist history through the lens of socialist doctrine and class warfare. The young are taught that America is the root of all the evils in the world and that we have to “atone” for our past sins. All of which are fabricated lies by the left. So now we have a generation of young people and many of their parents who have been brainwashed through decades of progressive education that can’t identify the classic form of socialism being preached by the leader of the country.

Obama’s silly financial “proposals” tell us that Dems intentionally want to drive us deeper into debt so we must accept terms from China, other debt holders and the UN. They see the USA as the enemy to world peace, etc., per George Soros. Soros and his ilk want to transfer our embedded wealth through them to finance their interests in the Third World. Here’s what might happen as a result of their evil and it’s not a pretty picture. I’m sure you can think of other “options”: Broker long term sovereign leases on the Continental Shelf, Anwar, interior Federal lands and major ports to China to forgive the debt. This is the easy to do because all the Political Class needs to do is sign a few papers and life goes on as usual for them within the beltway. Convert the 10 Federal Regions into free-standing countries. I remember reading… Read more »

Obama was very upfront in 2008 when he said he “wanted to fundamentally transform America”. Since then, he’s been doing exactly what he set out to do. One socialist item after another rammed through either via legislation or executive order. Never listening to calls for spending restraint or “a more balanced, bi-partisan approach”. He just concentrated on his goal to remake the country. The fact that so many people now four years later and nearly 7 trillion in additional national debt later and mountains of new, onerous regulations and restrictions are still somehow expecting Obama to act rationally or in the best interests of the country, just demonstrates either the total denial of a majority of the public who re-elected him or the successful dumbing down of enough of the population so they can’t recognize socialism. Either way, to expect Obama to begin governing in a different manner is to… Read more »

Easy. 1. Congress proposes the budget. 2. All representatives and president approve and sign budget. 3. The spending identified in the budget is split amongst all American citizens. For example, suppose the budget is $3,834,000,000 (3 trillion, 834 billion dollars). The youngest citizens (under 16 years of age) are assessed a flat portion of the total, let’s try $600. suppose there are 62,155,000 (62 million, 155 thousand persons) in that category, each pays 600 total is $37,293,000,000 (37 billion 293 million dollars). The remaining balance ($3,796,707,000,000) is assessed to all citizens age 16-65. suppose there are 204,775,000 (204 million 775 thousand persons) each pays $18,540 (18 thousand 540 dollars). If we don’t like paying $18540 each, we complain to the government to trim spending. Taxing business, and abating taxes from anyone, indirectly effects our share of the bill. What could be more fair? If the government can’t show that what… Read more »

The ultimate goal is to bring America down to size with one Global Authority called the UN. The Constitution is only as good as those in Washington defend and honor this document. Congress and this document are roadblocks to this admins agenda. How many executive orders? How is it that those in Washington supposedly representing us not see this One Global Society agenda?. Where are the “patriots” ? This admin is all about control not leadership with two driving forces, power and greed. Never let a good crisis go to waste to increase the size of Government and the dependency on the Government for your basic needs. Eventually America will owe their souls to the Government store with a one entitlement party spoon feeding America. This admin started campaigning for 2016 the day following the election. We will no longer be exceptional. Do we have to hit rock bottom to wake… Read more »

It is very simple to see what is going on in this country, when you turn your back on GOD evil steps in & that is what is happening. God told the Jewish Nation if you will turn to me I will heal your land,& unless that happens things are going to continue to get worse.

You hit that famous proverbial nail on the head Bob.

The more our nation has pushed God aside, the worse our problems have become. It started the day they took God out of our schools. As a nation and a people, we have been on a roller coaster to hell since and it is accelerating at an exponential rate. We try to solve our own problems to no avail. Mans efforts at solving his problems always fail. God warned humanity of such folly. We now have a godless government and a godless country. Church attendance and religious affiliations are at a historic low and continuing to decline at a rapid pace. This nation of ours looks more and more like Sodom and Gamorrah every day. God help us…….because we are incapable of doing so ourselves!

Amen, Bob. I see so many unhappy people who believe in abortion, samesex relationships and throwing God out of everything. I’d like to ask them, “How’s that working for you?” Contrary to common belief, we do not own our bodies. God makes them and God takes them. Each one of them is His temple. I only wish that everyone would meet Him before they arrive at the judgement seat. He has used evil rulers to punish nations that have left Him since the beginning of time. Obama is an evil ruler who has promised the moon to everyone who does not want to put forth much effort. They only look at the here and now. They, too, will become his slaves when he has taken over and what a shock that will be for them. Satan started this when he told Eve not to listen to God, that the apple… Read more »

My wife and I are at the retirement age and feel betrayed by big government, big business and big labor. Big is not better in any of these three areas. The amount of money passing around year after year from hand to hand (round robin style) with “The Big Three” is corruption plain and simple. The wealth of this nation has been taken out of the hands of “money producing” people and trnsferred to “money spending” people. In time, if not put in check soon, this corrupt process will bring this great nation to its knees. We will then be put at the mercy of very dangerous people and governments around the world. There must be some way to get “One Message” out to help us all organize and unite like minded people to strengthen and unite in numbers needed to save us all. When on earth will the news… Read more »

First things first. Get a Speaker of the House who has a backbone. Send crying John packing. These yahoos we send to Washington are not listening to us at all. I’m mad as hell and I’m sure there are a lot of others out here who feel the same way. Those Bozo’s in Washington must be deaf!!

Just look what the Republicans did to Congressman/Colonel Allen West. They gerrymandered his District and did not support him at all. Meanwhile in a heavy Democratic district where hi opponent out spent him 10 to 1 it was still a close election. I don’t trust the Republicans either. I voted the Constitution Party except for Romney what was really anti Obama

I’m still ,in shock over the fact that this country reelected Obama AFTER watching his handling of the office for four years. I thought , that with the exception of the speech he made at the Arizona memorial, every other speech was in full campaign mode. Even his State of the Union speeches. It’s all this man has a talent for. So, instead of negotiating in good faith with Republicans, he’s out on the “campaign trail”(again), trying to get those same people who voted for him,to pressure their Reps to do it “his” way. His way will finish bankrupting this country. Unfortunately, I think that is what he wants. Sequestration will neuter our defense and send the country into a recession/depression. Only if we become a third-rate economy can he accomplish his Socialist goals. Believe me, this is not hysteria. I’ve watched this man intently since he surfaced and I… Read more »
