AMAC Protect Our Religious Freedom Now!

‘The Constitution is Threatened and We Must Defend It’  –

BOHEMIA, NY, Mar 16 – The Association of Mature American Citizens [AMAC] will launch a new campaign prompted by “a real and present” threat to our Constitutional rights.

A new online survey on its Web site [] posed this question: “The Federal Government has stopped prayers at military funerals while forcing churches to violate their religious beliefs. Should AMAC protest these actions?”  Thus far, some 8,000 members and visitors have weighed in with an overwhelming 96% of them asking the association to get actively involved in defending the Constitution.

“And so, we are getting actively involved,” said Dan Weber, AMAC president and founder.

“In a way that other generations might have found unimaginable, the federal government has moved against the rights of religious conscience.  President Barack Obama recently ordered Catholic institutions to go against their religious conscience and pay for sterilization, contraception and ‘morning after’ abortion pills.  Although the liberal media seeks to make it a lifestyles issue, it is most definitely not.  It is about the Bill of Rights and its guarantee of religious freedom.”

Weber noted that the National Clergy Council, a Washington DC based group that represents church leaders of Catholic, Evangelical, Orthodox, and Protestant church traditions, consider the matter so serious that it has declared “a state of emergency.”

The AMAC chief said that the issue will not be “swept under the rug.  We stand united in defense of the Constitution.  If we don’t take a stand now, we will be faced with grave consequences later on when one by one our inalienable rights are taken away from us.  Our rallying cry will be: Protect Our Religious Freedom Now!”

Weber said the association is developing an inclusive, strategic defense to what he believes will be “one of the most crucial conflicts since the founding of the Republic.  If we lose, we lose the legacy of our founding fathers and so we are determined not to lose.”

He said that when AMAC announces its plans, it will call for broad-based support of members and non-members alike in order to mobilize our representatives and our religious leaders across the country.

NOTE TO EDITORS: Dan Weber is available for telephone interviews on this issue and other topics important to older Americans.  Please contact John Grimaldi at to set up a chat.

The Association of Mature American Citizens [] is a vibrant, vital and conservative alternative to those traditional organizations, such as AARP, that dominate the choices for mature Americans who want a say in the future of the nation.  Where those other organizations may boast of their power to set the agendas for their memberships, AMAC takes its marching orders from its members.  We act and speak on their behalf, protecting their interests, and offering a conservative insight on how to best solve the problems they face today.

We MUST vote Obama out of office if we want to SAVE GOD and our country, what is scarey is that Obama has gotten so many more people on welfare and medicade and they will vote for him as they vote for their living and we have all worked for our living and vote. GOD please save the USA.

We must all get involved as we have to stop obama from getting re-elected. We must make sure we get the message out to everyone that they should encourage all to vote in this election.
Yes, AMAC should get heavily involved in an effort to get our concerns properly addressed.

I am so tired of this Obama administration taking away our freedom, in many different ways–especially religious liberties.
It really makes you wonder what religion he is, if any. I have never been so afraid for our country. I hope and pray we get someone else in as president in the next election.

4 years 4 months ago

We should definitely protest. It’s so scary to realize that the government is putting restrictions on our religious freedom!
If a military person’s family does not want a religious funeral ceremony; then fine. But
if they do; they should have that right.
Thanks for standing up for our freedoms.

It is high time we stand up and shout NO! NO More will we cower to the few loudmouths trying to stop freedom OF(not from) religion. They are doing everything they can to make this an atheistic county. First to silence us. Next to imprison or even kill us as was done in every totalitarian regime in history from Ceasar on. STAND UP—STAND FIRM!!

Atheists keep screaming about being offended by Christian prayer and Bible reading. Our country was founded on Judeo Christian principals as written in the Bible. They do not have to change their beliefs to match mine and I don’t think that I have to change mine either. It’s a free country. Respect every individual view without advocating the abolution of apposing views.

My comments are not showing up again!
sent a message to AMAC asking why.
Has anyone else figured out what is going on?

We must not give in to the few winners and go back to majority rules and be vocale about it.

AMAC needs to be involved in speaking out about protection of our religious freedom and our seniors.

Thank you for taking a stand!!

It is true about the forbidden prayer at a grave side. My husband is a Chaplain serving in the Govt, and that person who did the forbidding has been removed from that position. Praise God! We must band together to make sure that Obama does not get elected. People of God no matter which wing of the church you belong to must come together as one voice to defend our freedom of religion. ‘The man who sits in the white house’ should not be able to say that this is not a Christian nation anymore. I love the phrase said earlier that ‘a sleeping giant has awakened’. God Bless this Nation and our Men and Women in Uniform.

We must pray to God that the American people understand what is going on in Our Country since Obama was elected. We must have faith in God, pray to Him so we can keep our Religious Freedom alive.

I thought the business about banning prayers at military funerals was BS. Just couldn’t be! Are they also going to do away with chaplains? As a bugler for the Marine Corps and American Legion, I’ve been a part of many, many funerals and the notion of prohibiting the presiding minister/priest/rabbi from delivering a prayer is just disgusting. If a family does not want a prayer, fine; but if they do, THAT SHOULD ALSO BE FINE!
I hope that all of us and AMAC will join the fight. If the USA is to survive as anything like the country that became the greatest in the world, we must get rid of these ACLU (which I deem as anarchists and criminals liberties union) anti-religious types starting with Obama.

I believe that any body or person has the right of free speech, And that includes prayers ANYTIME AND ANYWHERE ONE CHOOSES TO SAY THEM. I do not have to listen, or acknowledge them, if I choose not to, but I do not have a right to forbid or stop them.
If Muslums want to say prayers at public affairs they should be allowed to. I would not like it, but I do believ e they have rights to do so. Same with agnostics.
Words can be hurtful, but we can get over that quickly. Violance should not be tolerated,

I get angry when I think about the Justice of the Supreme Court who took Jefferson’s private letter to a friend and twisted it so now we have an edict that says there should be separation of church and state. That is not what Jefferson was saying at all. I hope someday this gets turned around. Our nation did not start out this way! We have had many presidents who prayed. I hope they continue to do so because they can’t effectively run this country without God!

I am glad I changed to AMAC, Now to ask our Dear God for help in getting this person out of office before he can do us any more harm. Abortions, taking prayer out of schools, taking prayer out of funeral services, not keeping marriage a sacred Sacrament, what else is he going to do to. take us straight to the fire. Lets Pray, Pray, Pray.

A lot of people asked or made a statement after 9/11 ” Why did God let this happen?” It was the same one’s who have abandoned Him and are so intent on getting the words off of our currency ” In God We Trust” This Country was founded because we wanted our Religious Freedom.
Being a Disabled Vet I heard the statement and seen it in Viet Nam there are no athiests in a foxhole.

4 years 4 months ago

It is almost unbelievable: A collection of ‘think alikes’ can ruin a country as fast as this bunch is doing it. As I see it , these people would never been able to rise in power without good, hard working, Americans who fought wars and worked
to build a country with everything they could use to advance their personal desires. More importantly, I cannot understand
how so many people believe that everything will be all right. Their freedoms do not include our religious freedom, isn’t it strange?

So glad that AMAC is getting involved! I missed the survey, but I would have said “yes.”

4 years 4 months ago

Wanda was right in the quote :”free exercise of religion”. Mine is being affected mightily by the goons. It is out fore fathers that wanted freedom from a “state established religion. If the history is correctly explored, one finds they came here so they could practice freedom of religion.
Whether you are a believer or not, the government was not designed to legislate this or any other social issue. They were to be separated to prevent this.
Big government creates “nanny states” and socialist states. Study your history and look across the pond. That’s working so well, isn’t it?

4 years 4 months ago

I attended a Freedom of Religion rally in Madison, Wisconsin yesterday. The participants were mostly Catholics, however I am a non-denominational Bible believing Christian. We were all alike in our concerns! This in not the time to find differences among Believers. We need to support each other. The Bishop who spoke, left me with a profound thought. When a government starts trying to control your conscience, that’s a form of total control. What do we have left, if our conscience is striped away? In the garden of Eden we didn’t need anything but our Lord. In this world however, we need to be discerning.

4 years 4 months ago

Take my word for it. If we keep on praying and acting on our conscience these rallies will grow and get more numerous and powerful. The far left made a big mistake by thinking religion is dead in America. They have awakened a sleeping giant.

I just hope that this debate does not make people think that poor ol’ God depends on the state for survival.
Let them remember that, two thousand years ago, when the state did what states are prone to do, it
didn’t work out just the way that anyone but God planned – and the state fell right into the hands of Satan.

And I hope people learn really fast now what marxist totalitarian behavior really is. It’s getting a lot clearer –
but November iis coming on apace.

Pat McDonald hit the nail solidly on the head. Throughout history, people have become severely oppressed to the point they finally have no choice but to call out God to bring them relief. They remember or learn how to truly repent. God brings them out of their oppression and they are thankful, acknowledging that only with His strength were they able to be freed and only with His help will they remain free. That last for a period of time until they become more and more successful and begin feeling less and less dependent on Him for their strength. The more they forget about him, the worse their condition becomes. Ultimately, they are again oppressed and find themselves in unbearable misery. This cycle has repeated since Adam and Eve left the garden. In a way I am happy to be as old as I am. I likely will be home… Read more »

We American`s have, as a nation, turned away from God and in effect have indicated that we are doing just fine without Him. He is allowing us to reap what we have sown…..immorality, violence, corruption and deceit in the highest places, and disregard for human life seen in child abuse, pornography and abortion.. , In many instances, there is a form of idol worship of money, power, and/or material things. Celebrities and sports figures have become role models and heros to our young people. The real heros of history have been forgotten. Along the way, like civilizations of old, we`ve forgotten our Creator. Our clergy cannot condemn sin specifically for fear of lawsuits by the ACLU or government.. Monuments to God have been removed from public buildings and public lands. Even the names of religious holidays are being changed in some places so as not to be “offensive” to non-Christians,… Read more »

Pat, You are right on. It seems it all boils down to political correctness and not religeous, moral, ethecal, or patriotic correctness. People of faith will have to be strong and lead the way out of this mess.

I am thankful we have a choice ,so our views are heard and acted on . We must get back to our roots of our founding Fathers. One Nation under God with Liberty and Justice for all . What happened with the majority wins. It seems the majority is always bowing to the few who are screaming the most .

No one can stop you from praying anywhere when you have Jesus in your heart. You bring Him with you wherever you go. Often, outward prayer in public says, “Look at me.” Jesus says: “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may been seen by men. . . . ” But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; . . .” (Matt. 6:5′ 6 NKJV). Oviously, there are exceptions. However, beware of those who protest too loud.

Beliving in God a creator or a higher state of existence is world wide and as diverse in content as the universe. For any government to dictate that one beliefe is better than another or any belief should be shunned or banned from a part of society is going to lead to a society such as exists in Iran.

Our government is out of control in all areas of governing and is so wrong there is no where to start in the dicsussion, but I say athiest have a religion which is a belief that there is no god or higher being and I say to that fine believe what you want but do not attempt to control or change what I believe.

My fear is that it is too late to affect any form of constructive guidance to our government at all levels.

4 years 4 months ago

The 1st Amendment forbids “an establishment of religion” by the government, and it protects the “free exercise” of religion.
Our Supreme Court has started chipping away at our rights by redefining this Amendment to mean “separation of Church and State”.
As a result atheist have challenged all religious /holiday displays, the 10 commandments displayed in court houses, the word “God” appearing on our currency, and the words “Under God” in our pledge.
And it never ends! While schools and businesses now challenge the wearing of religious medals our State Airports (to appease Muslims) can have government approved “quiet rooms”?!
Now Obama care supersedes religion………..
If the Supreme Court can redefine the words in the first Amendment other Amendments are also susceptible. Once again we need to pay careful attention to who is in the White House and Senate because they are the power that appoints the justices.
