AMAC: Medicare Services Ain’t Free

Mr. Obama’s election year healthcare surrogate distorts and deceives  -

BOHEMIA, NY, July 11 – Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius “distorts the facts and deceives voters when she talks about ‘free’ Medicare preventive services,” Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.  “It just isn’t true.  It ain’t free.”

A news release issued Tuesday by HHS, quotes Sebelius as saying: “Millions of Americans are getting cancer screenings, mammograms and other preventive services for free thanks to the health care law” and Weber reacted swiftly to “set the record straight.”

The AMAC chief called the statement “another example of election year politicking,” pointing out that the hospitals, doctors, nurses and other health care professionals were paid for their services.

“Of course someone is paying for the services – the taxpayers, all of us, are paying for them through the Medicare tax and all the new taxes under Obamacare.”

Weber said: “This is nothing more than a complete misrepresentation of the facts and a poor attempt at trying to ‘sell’ supposed benefits under the Affordable Care Act, which the majority of Americans would like to see scrapped.”

He said it is a “concerted effort by Mr. Obama and his surrogates to shore up his faltering Presidential Reelection campaign.  It’s a teaspoon of artificial sugar he’s feeding us while cramming a distasteful, indigestible and ill-conceived program down our throats.”

ABOUT AMAC

The Association of Mature American Citizens [http://www.amac.us] is a vibrant, vital and conservative alternative to those traditional organizations, such as AARP, that dominate the choices for mature Americans who want a say in the future of the nation.  Where those other organizations may boast of their power to set the agendas for their memberships, AMAC takes its marching orders from its members.  We act and speak on their behalf, protecting their interests, and offering a conservative insight on how to best solve the problems they face today.
