1,968 reasons to scrap ObamaCare and AARP

obamacare“Mend it, don’t end it,” was the mantra of Democrats during the affirmative action debates of the 1990′s. We are hearing similar cries on the ObamaCare front. Advocates are calling for “tweaks” of a bill that is nearly 2,700 pages long. Tweaking ObamaCare is about as plausible as tweaking a pit bull and making it a pug, or tweaking Michael Moore’s diet to make him slim.

There is a great chart by The Center for Health Transformation showcasing the 1,968 new powers delegated to the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius. Among the most ridiculous was this: “The Secretary shall develop oral healthcare components that shall include tooth-level surveillance.”

That’s right folks the HHS is watching your daily brushing habits. And if you skip a few days, or God forbid, forget to floss, don’t expect any help from Big Sister.

“The liberals who crafted this provision are the very same people who lost their minds at the prospect of the FBI scanning incoming calls from a terrorist in Yemen,” noted Dan Weber, President and CEO of AMAC, America’s conservative alternative to AARP.” Yet they don’t seem to have a problem with government surveillance of our gums.” www.TearUpYourCard.com

Examples of the 1,968 new and expanded powers highlighted in the Center for Health Transformation’s study include: www.healthtransformation.net.

  • The Secretary will decide how drugs are dispensed in long-term care facilities (Section 3310);
  • The Secretary will determine “fair” health insurance premiums, overruling decisions by state officials if she chooses (Section 1201)
  • The Secretary may use comparative effectiveness research to decide what care seniors can have access to (Section 6301).

Where is AARP on all of this? Why are they not crying bloody murder?

AMAC’s Dan Weber explained that AARP relentlessly pushed for passage of ObamaCare to protect their own revenue stream, and they continue to push the legislation, stooping to new lows by hauling out Andy Griffith to make their case for them.

“Mayberry didn’t have socialized medicine,” said Dan Weber of AMAC. “If you are as mad as I am, I urge you to tear up your card and join AMAC, where you’ll find competitive insurance rates and competitive member benefits. And unlike AARP, we won’t sell out our members on public policy. Or sell out our great country.”

AMAC has over 100,000 conservative members and supporters, including national radio hosts Mike Gallagher and Hugh Hewitt. www.TearUpYourCard.com

  2. Steve O says:

How about 50,000 reasons to scrap Amac and the GOP? That is how many Americans die each year because of lack of access to medical insurance. And that is a non-partisan statistic. Just Google and you will be educated.

  3. John Dahlberg says:

Before I turned 60, I started noticing what AARP did and what they were saying about various things that seniors would be looking for and dealing with.It soon became evident that they were using seniors to convince to vote for their democrat choices. The liberalism was showing. They ran psa’s that parroted the conventional lies about conservatives wanting to deny seniors just about everything. They weren’t just exaggerations, they were outright lies. I never joined and took delight in shredding the propaganda they would mail me. I’m ready to turn 65 and as soon as I found AMAC, I joined. Liberalism never works, only destroys. And that what AARP supports. Not for me!

  4. B & N Miller says:

My husband and I will not be renewing our subscription next time. The AARP started calling us on our phone during the last election, and tried to tell us how to vote. I told them that I pay for AARP for what it can do to help us, not to tell us how to vote! That was the last straw!

  6. Chuck Spaulding says:

I dumped AARP twelve years ago when I realized that their only agenda other than bringing in large amounts of money was their rabidly anti second amendment rantings.

  7. D Cavalcante says:

My husband and I have already torn up our **** cards and joined AMAC.

  9. DA Gerber says:

My spouse and I will be joining AMAC as it is great to now have an alternative to AARP. For years I have been returning any AARP correspondence in the reply envelope with a short message stating my displeasure with GAARP – a simple protest with will cost them time and money screening responses.

  10. Bob Abbott says:

The writing has been on the wall for 5-6 years as far as the AARP is concerned. When they started sending questionable messages about their stance on various “political” positions that weren’t in line with the well-being of seniors…I bailed out on them. They have become just another lobbyist group advocating socialism. Backing the Obamacare crap should have been the last straw for seniors!

  11. georgia enloe says:

I have believed for several years AARP is not FOR us Seniors unless there is a big profit in it for them. I have not believed in AARP for these past several years. They are in it for nothing but to make a buck at our expense. They can take this Socialized Obamacare plan and use it for toilet paper as far as I am concerned.

  12. Pete MacDougall says:

AARP also heavily pushes various companies which I am sure they are compensated for doing. Take a look at the competition. AARP has gone from helping seniors to helping themselves to their money.

  13. Ron Black says:

I did not renew my membership in AARP ovewr four years ago. I didn’t like their spokespersons and the maeesage they were sending. When Obama Care was being considered they only thought about their pockets, not those of seniors. Seniors beware, your money -dues aren.t helping you and neither is AARP

  14. Larry McKinnon says:

I knew when AARP started backing Obamacare, us seniors were to be sold down the river. I was right. How could I forget..money is the Boss. Not us seniors. No more. Gone in 2012.

  15. Ken says:

Nicely done. Keep up good work.
